I thought QPR just played the way you’d need to play to beat us tonight. Sat very very deep and ceded possession in our half, but closed us down pretty well when they got the chance. They also got behind us several times after waiting perfectly for us to make a mistake and only some superb defending (particularly from JO’C and Bash) kept their chances to a minimum.

We all like a laugh at some of Holloway’s quotes but he’s tactically outdone us tonight for me.

We still put some fast flowing moves together and played all right, but many broke down, passes went astray and we didn’t create a lot. You can’t put all that down to an off-night (particularly as we didn’t play that badly), much of it was down to QPR’s shape and tactics.

It obviously happens over a season and was certainly to be expected. CW will have a look at it and they’ll all learn from it, but we were tactically defeated tonight. We just accept it and move on.

*disclaimer - this is not a meltdown or even really a criticism. It happens and Mr Wilder has done it far more times than it’s been done to him. But he got Hollowayed tonight!

Yeah. Agree to an extent, but I did think that after they won the majority of the early battles and "earned the right to play" (cliche), they just showed no interest in doing so. Just seemed to want it to be a 90 minute scrap. Which they won.

I'm admittedly being a bit bitter, but I felt like we were playing United under Blackwell, tonight.

Couldn't agree more, summed it up to a tee.

The rematch at the Lane will be different that ground looks like they were playing in a shoebox. No room to move the ball around in that small space for a passing team.
They are used to it gives them the chance to quickly close a team down. They liked the long ball to move it up the field.

Maybe we should set up different for the first 10^15 mins to throw the opposition off track a bit, seems like we're starting to get 'sussed out a bit' with our style?
We've got a lot of versatile players who surely can fit the mix ?

They defended deep and didn't let us get in behind.

They closed us down well in midfield and protected their defence well.

They were first to a lot of the second balls.

But more than anything they broke the game up brilliantly, time wasted without being too blatant, and without taking this piss (until the 88th minute embarrassment). This tricked the retarded referee into only adding 4 minutes on rather than 6 or 7 like it should have been.

Alex Baptiste was rock solid by the way. Would've had him here.
