Had a look on Swindon's and Scunthorpe's fans forum tonight while the wife watch strictly.
Now not to put a dampener on today's win, but the Swindon fans general opinion seems to be that they are a really poor side who are in for a relegation battle. They seem to have a scapegoat in a player called Rodgers I think. When I looked there was not much about us, so not sure if these views were from fans that went to the game or those that didn't.
Now the Scunthorpe fans forum was a bit more interesting.
There did seem to be a few who thought their bubble had burst and they would start to slide down the league. Pointing out they had not been playing well lately, they had been lucky against Oldham and 10 man Northampton recently.
There was also the thought that teams had sussed them out and their manager didn't have a plan B.
Apparently Rochdale played a high pressing game which didn't suit their style, although some did point out that Rochdale had won 8 on the trot at home and hadn't conceded a goal at home since September.
They seem to see Bolton and Bradford has promotion rivals, mentioning that the up and coming games against those two sides will be the toughest test of the season so far.
Anyway apologies to Roy not trying to muscle in on your excellent work, but at least it shows its not just us that moan when we lose a game.

Didn't some of our very own fans claim that the wheels had come off our season after a draw a defeat and an FA Cup loss with an understrength side?

Just to correct that for you, it should read 'after a very unlucky last minute draw away at a team who were one of the pre season promotion favourites and who drew at a promotion rival today, a defeat which was a total fluke of a result and which was day light robbery from the opposition, and an FA Cup loss against a team playing at full strength and who were in the championship last season, with our much changed understrength side'.

If that is our mid season 'wobble' over and done with then i would be a very happy man. There did seem to be a bit of a over reaction from some on here. I genuinely believe that the champions position is ours this season provided we dont lose anyone of significance in January. Its ours to lose this season.

Saw a tweet from Bet365 last night which listed the top goal scorers in England (possibly europe too) and we've scored 38 goals already.... Yet we have shit strikers according to some....

Even at Half Time yesterday the shoutbox was talking of missed chances and bringing strikers in... We need to be more clinical, but we have goals in all 4 strikers and importantly, throughout the team

The team does need tweaking and o would be happy if CW could bring in 3 (4 max) signings in Jan (EEL to stay would be nice too).

I know who i would bring in up front as a reinforcement... he shouldnt cost too much and is currently playing not a million miles away from BDTBL.... if Utd got that lad id be supremely confident that we would crack it this season.

I'd like some competition to come in but I still wouldn't change a dam thing with the 1st eleven. Not whilst we're winning.

I mentioned this a few weeks ago, exactly what Fleetwood fans said about him, great when things are going well but has no plan 'B'. Subject to someone putting a run in a la Barnsley, us and Bolton all the way now I think.

So Scunthorpe don't see us as promotion rivals?

The shoutbox is embarrassing while a match is on ,I have to stay out of there as it winds me up too much.

We was not mentioned at all, except possibly by one comment which said it was between them and the 3 B's, I'm guessing they are calling us Blades or more probably that original name Blunts.

I'd point out that 3 of the 4 goals yesterday were scored by midfield players, and the other, by one of our four strikers scoring his first goal of the season ... in December!

While our strongest areas are the three centre halves (plus Moore) and three in central mid, there's certainly room for improvement up top. I'd also make the suggestion that our current strikers might look better if there was better quality into the box from the wide areas. The number of times yesterday, and most of the season for that matter, that Laverty and Freeman (they're not the only ones but as they're the wing backs they're the ones putting the majority into the box) have found the opposition defenders means improvement is required there too.

Do you want to point out that he's been getting fit as he started his preseason in sept...

Hopefully he can kick on from yesterday but there's no getting away from the fact that there's room for improvement up top, and imo vast improvement is required with quality of crosses into the box.

With Scunny it is quite simple - all fans have to do is go and lookat their fixtures for Nov/Dec and Jan (and Feb too) - They have some difficult teams to play.

I looked a while ago, and posted that if they were top come the end of January then they would probably win the league. It should be no surprise they are slipping a bit given the fixtures.

It's like any team - you win it because you are best over a full season - how many remember Tranmere or Leyton Orient during the past 5/6 seasons? - One swallow doesn't make a summer.

Their manager is half decent and destined for better things - it's no surprise he is getting the very best out of what they - and dropping very fortunate getting Josh Morris from Bradford when they were managerless........I bet McCall is rueing whoever made that decision. Morris makes the difference for Scunny as Clough does for Bolton - both might not be at their respective clubs come January 31st.

Always room for improvement.

And i agree...a 4-0 win, with three goals from midfield, a striker on double figures before Christmas (having missed 3 or 4 pens), last game 35 shots, 19 on target apparently 117 shots in the last 5 games, 38 league goals already this season... We need to be more clinical.

Which is what some were talking about in the shoutbox yesterday. Although apparently that's called moaning.

I don't think scunny fans saying Bolton and Bradford will be tough tests is any slight on us. It's true they will be and when they played us we were hardly the team we are now
