as my old nan use to say, principles are all about circumstances.......

I might be biased but I think completely differently regarding this recruitment should we get relegated. We’ve just bought the greatest hits of the championships best players over the last few years. If we were starting a championship season tomorrow we’d be overwhelming favourites for the title.
Exactly. This is why all the comments about "they're preparing for life in the championship again" are so fucking stupid.

We've cherry picked the best of that division, aiming to see these players continue to develop and improve at a higher level, which they hopefully will do.

However, we have the best manager I've ever seen, and doubtless the thought of potential relegation has occurred to him. Unlike our dear neighbours, we can think longer term. I genuinely believe CWAK think we will stay up, but will have had one eye on the "what if" scenario, and know that if we do go down, we will be strong enough to mount an immediate challenge to bounce straight back.

So had they been good enough to get promoted last season😅.
They would have got rid of him.? o_O

Do we really have any interest in what Swansea fans think of us ? Their manager fucked off to Brighton, their two outstanding players have decamped as well. They've had a recent spell with Carvalho in charge and that should have numbed their football senses for the foreseeable future. They're as down as we're up. Unlucky !

I cannot make my mind up about their comments. They seem to be very pleased to have got a good price for him, but having sold him, tell us he will not make it in the PL. In addition, they seem to think that coming to Sheffield (the city) is a retrograde step, and he will want to return in the Jan. window to Swansea. However what they seem to forget is that whereas Oli is a further brick in our wall, he was their main goal scorer and talisman. If they make a ballsup of his replacement I can see them in deep trouble come May 2020. If Chris thinks he is worth the price, then that is good enough for me. As for Swansea, I think it will be a long time, if ever, before they get back to the promised land, and it serves them right for rubbishing our fab city.

You'll certainly never find me ever saying anything remotely racist, but what a bunch of cunts the Welsh are

If I could sum up the general feeling of all those posts - Patronising.

I imagine a lot of these Swansea fans only stem as far back circa 2008 when things started to turn for them and wasn't around when they were a 3rd division side at best.

Thank you for your gangly, unlikely footballer who miraculously became your top goalscorer. Hopefully we can file him with goes-missing Fleck, L1-at-best JOC and that hoofer Egan.

the only worse business I can remember was us signing Clucas, Bony and Ayew for £48m, with Sanches’ loan fee making it £50.”

If my sums are reyt, that equates to £47.999.950 cashback.

Factor in transfer inflation and that amount is more like £80 million in todays money!

Swansea did very well to survive in the Premiership for as long as they did, however, once relegated they will follow the same route as Blackpool,Barnsley,Wigan,Hull etc and will be exiled from the top division for ever.

Exactly. Once a historically-crap team like Swansea, Hull etc. gets a sniff of the PL, they think it's their natural home. Fail to get promotion from the Championship and the better players soon get sold to pay the bills. It's happening to Swansea (McBurnie, James, Ayew, Fer, Bony), Leeds, Derby (not Wednesday as nobody wants their yesterday's men). The Swansea fans' comments are just bitterness - we (The Blades) are 'buying Championship players so will end up back there'. So where do Swansea's transfer dealings suggest they're heading?

58971

Ditto Leeds (with rumours of Kemar Roofe going to Anderlecht for £7m):

58972

Oh, and get used to our friends at Brentford filling their forum with 'He was crap', '£20 million? You're joking!' comments when Maupay goes to Brighton.

A split between those who are bitter, those who are happy for the money and those who think he’s a decent player and deserves a crack at the PL. Remains to be seen if it’s a good signing but technically he seems to have the attributes, just hope he can produce for us.

If we’re already down how much worse can it get?

You haven't been listening to the experts. We are far worse than Derby and will not get anywhere near their impressive 11 point haul in 2008.

We may well get so few points (3?) that the League actually decide to relegate us TWO divisions for being so crap.

That means another 6 years in L1 awaits while the Massive under SAF-Bullen, romp to promotion with a record 259 points and go on to win ........blah blah blah...

Cheers Panchero!

Swansea ... the only set of fans I've ever seen try to storm the Family Stand (and even then it was a half-arsed attempt). Stay classy Swansea.

This sort of stuff shows how little some so called football fans know.......

"...Hasn’t cut it at International level in a poor Scotland side. Didn’t cut it in the Prem League in a poor Swansea side. Brilliant in the Championship as main man for a young Swansea side. Hope he does well in a relegation battle for an overachieving Sheffield United...”

"overachieving" seriously?, we went up in second spot, and right down to the last day, could have gone up in first place. It's not like we fluked our way into the 6th spot and somehow won the play offs, after being bang average all season!

I appreciate that these views may not be representative of the majority of Swansea fans, but jeez, they sure are sour. Right up to the point when it looked as if OM might stay, he was their hero. Now, when their board realised that when a bigger club comes calling you just have to drop your knickers, suddenly Oli is second rate!

It happens to every club, we've lost great players, and often below their real value, but that's the way it goes, so get a grip swans, you'll survive.

I had a soft spot for the Swansea story, going down to the depths, being saved by a fans collective, and eventually returning to what used to be Div 1. You've had some really good players, just as we have, it's just that it's our time, so less of the bollocks, you just have to learn how to act with dignity and an awareness that the world has moved on since you had your 15 seconds in the limelight.

I guess we lost twice to Swansea last season, and (from memrie) we were ropey in both games. So it’s to be expected that plenty of their fans might think we have little chance of staying up. Just as we were ace for 170 mins in our two games v Villa ... and they seem to have a better opinion of us.

A lot of fans don’t have the time, or interest, to follow the performances of every other club in their div closely enough to have an accurate sense of how good or bad they are. So the games v their own club become the default yardstick.

Parochial Welsh twats 😁
