81/82 season still one of fav seasons , first season I’d seen us win owt . My debut at the Lane was home to Palace home in Sept 77 so missed out on the golden era of the early 70’s . Only missed 4 games all that season which wasn’t bad for a 14yr old funding his travels on the back of multiple paper rounds & glass collecting lol .
Also ballboyed at The Lane that season & some of the following season . Running across the pitch infront of the team as we did then was something I’ll never forget . For me that day at Darlington was like winning the European Cup very happy memories

88 all I remember is how many people there were there, there wasn't In reality. Div 3, 2 and 1 under Bassett was outstanding we had the best fans in the world
