Has anyone off here converted to a Blade? Maybe moved to Sheffield from a different city/town and supported a different side? Maybe converted by a family member or friends?
I once heard a story and I’m not sure how true it was, back in the 70’s a group of young blades had a single pig fan friend and they put all his scarves and programmes etc on a bonfire and then clubbed towards replacing them with Blades stuff and ever since the lads been a Blade. I’d like to think it’s true !!

My sister supported the S6 massive. She only went to the rust bucket twice on her own. Her first boyfriend was a diehard blade and took her to bdtbl and she soon turned away from the dark side!!. I've been with my wife for 22 years!!. ( 20 years married). I took her to Highbury for a blades cup tie as a 1st date. She loved the atmosphere that day and although she doesn't attend games. She always looks for our score to assess what mood I'll be in!!. Lol

My mother was brought up on the dark side but converted by my Dad. Little BB had the choice of any club in the world to support and he chose Sheffield United. I was amazed:eek:;)

Don't know if he posts on here but a lad at school was a Stoke fan, seen him on FB with his United attire on!
Met a lad from Reading who'd been to university at Sheffield, don't know if he ever supported R. but he's all Blade now, funny thing was I met him during the era Reading battered us every time, almost like an Ignomy Hunter (for want of a better term and i asked Google who said 'dunno mate').

First match I ever went to was against chesterfield, in 2004, in league 1...

All my family were pigs except my dad. Took me to a United game a few months later. Thank fook for that.

I was chatting to a Blade stood next to me at the Leicester FA Cup game (don't know if he posts on here) and he told me he lived in Norfolk. I assumed he had lived in Sheffield at some point, but he told me he'd never lived in Sheffield- been in Norfolk all his life- said his grandfather was born on Bramall Lane and that's the reason he follows the Blades.

There’s a guy who sits directly behind me who I don’t think has never lived in Sheffield but is a season ticket holder who travels from Derby every game and does about half a dozen away games as well. I’ve never thought to ask him what the connection is. Seems a very knowledgeable and sensible type....... obviously!

There's a lot of blades in derby , also at my work there's a blade from hackenthorpe , a lot of derby fans I no from work regard the blades now as a second team.

Just remembered Roger Wylde was a Blade fan who went on to play for Wendy

On a related note I used to watch Stockport extensively until I went to uni in Sheffield and picked us up from there. Would probably still watch County occasionally if they weren't charging more per game to walk up in the Conference North than my season ticket costs

He had no choice. It was the scarves and the programmes or him! Sometimes you have to teach people what’s best for them!

I went to a few Stockport County games when I was about 10 as my dad was working there. If I’d decided to support them instead of the Blades I’d now be savouring the delights of National League North football at Beautiful Downtown Edgeley Park.

My missus was a regular at Goodison Park in her teenage years in the days of Ball, Kendall et al. Came to uni in Sheffield in the late 70s and has been here ever since. Has been a regular at the Lane for many years and considers herself a Blade first, Fortunately, any potential divide in loyalties has rarely been tested in recent years.

Woody a pig ??? Never ! :(
In 1962 Vic Buckingham (Wendy's manager) and John Harris were keen to sign him so Woody went to speak to both of them. There was something about Buckingham (I read he was a maverick in character) that Woody didnt like so he decided against signing for the team he supported. He liked Harris who was more of a father figure

i supported Man United up until i was about 5 years old mainly because i had only ever heard of 'georgie best' (i also supported Brazil!).. as soon as i was old enough to understand my grandfather put me on the right path..
with mixed results .. i think we can all testify to that :D

on my travels i've managed to convert a few. a couple of lads in Austria who i know now keenly follow all our results and a bunch of Rangers fans who i befriended up here are turning into 'closet' Blades :D

My step daughter supported the dark side when I met her Mum, still supported them when we split up. She now has a season ticket next to me and has done more away days than me in the last few years.

I live in North Sheffield which is still seen as Wendy-supporting territory, and everyone I meet, particularly my colleagues who support the dark side always question why I follow United as I only live about 1.5 mile from the rust bucket. To defend my reasoning frustrates me beyond belief because I also point out I live about the same distance from the training ground at Shirecliffe.

Growing up in a family that wasn't big on Football, I had more of a choice who to support. My Dad was an armchair Newcastle fan due to the fact his dad was born there. He tried to get me to watch them, he even got me a shirt as a kid but I only really followed their results. I was always offered free Wendy tickets at school, but even when I wasn't that interested in Football until age 11, I was never tempted to set foot in that place.

So for me, it was either the Blades or no-one.

So that will be looking for signs of bashing your head on a brick wall when you get out of the car at home (when we have lost). Runing around naked in the street trying to understand a 0-0 win whilst trying to disect a bacon sandwich, or after the loss just seeing your shoulders slump as you walk through the door and straight away gives you a hug, a lovely cup of tea and says
"don't worry dear, there is always next year..."

The alternative ending...

"Get that F***K*** decorating done..."
