Has anyone noticed the stats? Lost 1-0 with only one shot all game against Sunderland’s 28 shots with 12 on target.
Not knowing much about the women’s game, but do ladies Blades have much of a fan base? Is it worth the cost to the club for them carrying on, without sounding sexist?

If every time a women's team had a shit season they folded, there would eventually be none left.

Separate finance I think. The owners can put money in without it affecting the 85% rule.

It has certainly been a difficult few seasons for SUFC Women. But Hook or Crook, we've managed to retain our position in the Second Tier. The match stats you quote are for a game in "the minor cup". And United have rested players and blooded a few youngsters in that game. Maybe those on the day stats are not particularly representative. The realities (my opinion) of WSL2, if you are a struggling team, is you basically have to worry about the teams in your "mini league" down at the bottom.

United have won two out of six. Two other teams are 0 for six. Given the difficulties of recent seasons - I judge that as not too bad.

The point I always make is - it's 2026, any football club which wants to progress, and be rooted in the local area and community simply must have a Women's Team, and an aspirational Women's Team at that. Turning it into a cell in a spreadsheet doesn't change that.
