Will you feel the same if it's SUFC v Sheffield Wednesday B in a couple of years time? Our first team as the fodder to improve their kids? There's nothing to stop it happening now.
The principle is an insult to lower league teams, and a disgrace. There is no way that any club should be required to put forward a first team to play against another club's academy team in a competitive match. If this isn't firmly rejected by fans - by boycotts, protests, and any other means of getting our voice heard - then it will be extended to 'selected' academy teams playing in the football league in a few years time.
I don't care whether we're in the lower divisions then or not - the principle is completely wrong, both in the "EFL Trophy" and in the Football League itself.
