Deserved champions. The only bit of positivity to come out of this sorry mess of a season.

I started watching the academy matches instead of first team games and enjoyed them a lot more. They gave me a reason to feel good about watching football, even if they didn't win.

Exactly the reason why I started going. Tough match tonight against a very athletic/physical Birmingham City match. Great team performance tonight without any real standout individual ⚔️

I'd agree, but for Marsh and Pitan who I thought were both excellent throughout, as I put on the other thread.

Birmingham's #18 was also very good throughout and their #24 was pretty good and a constant pest in attack.

So last season we had Brooks, Arblaster and Osula in a team that lost in the final.

This team are the first of our lot to win the final. Be an exceptionally good time for one or two to step up next season and become part of the first team squad. But who?

Hampson? Faxon? Oné? Easton?

Easy answer is Marsh. Looks a great player. I hope others make it though, we seem to be consistent in having a strong team every season!

Are osula and One on international camp or injuries? Weird we didn't use them with two big games for the side throw Curtis into that too

+ Marsh! Pick of the bunch!

Marsh is the obvious answer (he’s got a lot going for him, just hope he develops physicality to add to his footballing attributes. He’ll be some player if he does). He could, all being well, be around the first team squad next season. Stasnauski and Hampson are both really well regarded. But I’ve been really impressed with Billy Blacker these last two or three games. I don’t think (Marsh excepted) they’re ready for the first team squad just yet. For their development, they really need to get good loans and play men’s football for a bit. See how far they can go…

100% this. The standard of the PDL is about National League level, so that's a huge step up to play in the Championship.

Went to the game and completely agree that they were the stand out performers, or at least the players who I thought looked like they had the tools to progress into the men's game.

Still a big leap though.

All the “senior” academy players by which I mean ones that have been around the first team this year haven’t played in the end of season playoffs. I think it’s one an indication that they now are considered senior rather than academy players and two it was a chance for the academy lads to go and win it in their own right sort of thing.

One’s injured I’d assume he’s been there watching on against Swansea and Birmingham and went up and got his medal last night along with some of the 18’s that have contributed for the 21’s but weren’t in the squad last night.

All of them to save us having to bother buying anyone ?

When are the piggy Star going to write an article about our academy side?

I went to the Lane last night.
After reading so many posts on here from people who seem to wallow in negativity it was good to see how positive our younger fan base were!
We didn’t play a lot of our more experienced U21s.
After Easton went off (after a shocking challenge), 5 of our team we’re U18s and 2 of them (Sasnauskas and Tahir) could actually play for the U18s for another year. Young Dovy impressed me. He seemed to have the knack of being in the right place.
Faxon and Marsh were outstanding and looked the nearest to senior football.

Blacker impresses more each time I see him, it’s his 18th birthday today in fact so still very young. Sasnaukas, Faxon, Marsh as you mention will be the ones around the 1st team squad next year if not out on loan but Blacker will be hot on their heels I reckon because he really is coming on quickly, I do think he’s better further up the field than he is playing now though, either a forward or just behind them.

Yes and he was out injured for a long period, caught up quickly.
McCall did say a while back: we have some real talent coming through, hopefully he was right yes McCalls gone but I remember him saying that.

Thought Sachdev played really well, showed heart and really looked like he was giving 110%.
Surely one to watch, and plays in a position were short in, oh, hang on, they all do!!!
Well done lads!!
Not ready for first team football yet. He's got a good engine and he makes good runs but his crossing is poor and his final pass was often off or he lost the ball through poor control. He needs work but there's potential there. He did well for the opening goal, I'm give him full credit for that.

I like him but I thought Jack Waldron was far better when he came on. He did more then Sachdev defensively and in attack. Set up three great chances including the second goal. Waldron was outstanding.

Waldron another blade making his way , not tall but a real unit who can play.

Yep

As the game went a bit stale the introduction of Jack saw that through ball and two great crosses one which got the 2nd goal and wrapped up the win.
He’s got a great pass on him and when they went deep did his duty defensively.

He's only 18 so it's exciting what he might develop into over the next three years. His all round game was excellent last night and his height wasn't a hindrance. He very much reminded me of Geary, and not just for the height, but with the face of Chris Morgan! Bless him. He certainly made the difference in securing the win.

He’s Brad Pitt next to Morgs.
