I think it's fair to say that currently i've never felt as uninterested and apathetic to SUFC currently. I'm listening to the game but only out of habit, it's boring me to tears and I doubt after i've posted this I'll keep listening. If we were to score I'd think 'that's good', if we were to concede I'd think 'that's good, Watford are on my accumulater'. Compared to seasons past where I'd run around the house like an idiot or honk my horn (behave) if we score whilst i'm driving. Another marker of how boring things are currently is that I must go back to the age of 10 when I honestly didn't know who we were playing on Saturday. I've had to check on the offcial site to see Derby & Tongey are coming back to town. This was greeted with slightly more enthusiasm than 'that's good' as it means a few drinks and a good laugh.

So, enough about me, what has caused it? Losing Walker is a massive blow in more ways than one. Despite being awful on Saturday he's been our best player by a country mile this season. Excellent defensively but more impressively and more usefully great going forward. He's able to just dominate the entire right side of the pitch. It was horrible losing Naughton but losing Walker in a way is worse.

Blackwell probably doesn't help matters with the dull football but I think it's unfair to put the blame solely at his door. Yes if we were playing better football things might be a bit easier to take but I can't move from the fact he's damn good at getting results.

**As I type, goal for Watford, meh**

McCabe again isn't the devil but I think he has shot himself in the foot by making some brash statements around four or five years ago which we've as a club failed to live up to for a variety of reasons. I think the fans are generally feeling fustrated and confused as to why we've been cutting back pretty much since Blackwell arrived.

The platform fans are given doesn't help either. It may say more about myself but reading rantings by felllow United fans just makes me wanting to bang my head against a brick wall. Radio Sheffield is the same, with some Unitedites coming on day in day out making utter cocks of themselves.

What is there left to like about being a Blade? Morgan, Monty and Cresswell certainly make you feel like there is some semblance of team spirit and decency to our team and Jamie Ward can produce some quite exciting displays - although as I speak Morgan has just been subbed off. Going to games is increasingly depressing with the attitude and behaviour of fans, the whole place is just extremely fustrated. I feel like there is going to be another Millwall 2005 on its way. Seeing players coming in and leaving within a year without really playing is fustrating. I mean, what happened to the days of SUFC signing a player and I don't mean expensive players either, I mean players like Ndlovu or Asaba who would sign and play straight away. We've signed Yeates, a player Blackie waxed lyrical about and he's had about 10 minutes since signing. I can't get excited about when we sign an attacking player as I'm quite sure he won't really play!

We need something which will grip the club and the fans and give us something to look forward to. Change of manager in the summer? Probably, but with a similiar manager working within the same environment wouldn't change much or achieve anything. Thankfully Robinson has left which I hope removes some of the green room closed nature of our managerial appointments. Some investment would help too as McCabe seems to not want to put any more money in and I can't blame him for that. It's time for someone else to pick up the baton.

Apologies for this poorly structured post but I hope some of it strikes a chord.

And you've clapped your way through all of that Tim, so why the change? genuine question, not a pop.

This is part of the problem with that useless c**t in charge of us, whats the point

No need to apologise - great stuff. Just wish McCabe and Trev would read some of the stuff today.

The sad thing is that a lot of fans are thinking on similar lines despite our desires are to see the Blades suceed.
All we want is success for our club

Kent - yes, agree about success but just a bit of hope would do at the moment.

I'm not quite as downhearted yet, but I appreciate your honesty Santos.

At the end of the day, we all want the same thing. Which is why it irritates me when people fight and argue so much. No matter what we do or how we feel, it makes not one blind bit of difference to what happens.

All we can do is sing as we go... or decide not to go any more.

.... and meanwhile his pet hoofers/ players who can`t control walking onto the pitch never mind a football, can`t get dropped no matter how hard they try.

Wiilamson, possibly our best central middle man, Yeates, the creative messiah, Camara, our pacey man up front, all sat on the bench freezing their brussell sprouts off & thinking "why did i sign for this prick"?

Why indeed

I just declined going to Forest today with a colleague at work (trees fan). After the most boring game last year and the prospect of getting ripped apart again I cannot face it. Cannot justify the cost for me and Kenilworth junior as well. Too hard earned to piss away on a waste of time. You know you're not going to be entertained.

The club lost its mojo once we sold Beattie.

Just a note, can we calm the abuse down of people who aren't here to defend themselves please?

It isn't really constructive and I know some people don't really like reading it.

You know where the P&T is if you really want to indulge in tourettes.

People slag Paul Walker et all for talking about it being football's problem and they were at it again tonight but I think there's a lot of truth in it. A simple example is the massive turnaround in players which makes it hard to associate with them as your own and this only makes the loss of Kyle(s) that much stronger.

I know City fans who are disullusioned even with their money, I know PNE fans who have not renewed recently after 30 plus years, I know Blackpool ST holders of many years who now go and watch Fleetwood, Liverpool fans who aren't really bothered that they're in the relative mess they're in.

Finances are the be all and end all and whilst McCabe has recognised this, his cost cutting has all too familiar consequences.

Will it change, well, success helps but I think football itself is changing and with more and more clubs struggling who knows, maybe it'll never be the game it once was.

Football is changing, has changed and won't get back to what most reasonable people would want.

Agree that it isn't just United but there aren't many fans having to watch the rubbish we are watching from such highly paid players.

I really am, serioulsy and genuinely pissed off with McCabe and SUFC today.

2 nil now.. here linz.. what happened to the labour and the woodseats road threads.. i was enjoying them :-)

The first inkling of discontent was warnocks 5 buys in the 2006 transfer window, Nowt to improve the side at tha time, nowt to keep us up.

2nd smack in the gonads... the appointment of Bryan Robson

a brief respite with the buy of Beattie

a further respite in the sacking of BR, & the refreshing outlook of new man Blackwell.

3rd smack in the `taters.... the real blackwell took over the imposter & we are officially the ugliest team in Britain.

4th knee in the bollocks... the sale of our future, the buy of average cloggers & the non use of anything remotely creative.

the killer flick with the wet towel... Walker

Still, we `ve always got the likes of monty & quinny to cheer us up with a monty tackle on his sen or a super pass from either to the feet of Evans... sat on the bench.

God we are boring. Not even under McEwan were we this mind numbingly dull (apologies to spaspecker)

thanks linz.. how on earth did i end up in there. today was particularly boring though! like this match eh? ooh er.

You should present FH Micalijo! I've just compiled a bunch of cliches and quotes that I'm fed up with

The Money's gone from Football
No it hasn't its just people are spending less. Promotion is still the same value.

When the PL come knocking you have to accept
How come Leeds still have Beckford then? No, when the PL come knocking you can say no. You just have to coinvince your players that its worth staying for.

United are in much better shape than a lot of teams
How? Because we sell our best players and have a large bank balance. Rubbish we don't have any more players to sell

10 Million for two young lads is good business
Only if you build with it. Isn't it better business to keep them and earn the 50 million that the PL brings

2 Million is good business for a lad thats out of contract at the end of the season
Is it? Is it really, we should have tied him into a contract a long time ago if thats the case. Thats good business

Tottenham put a clause in his contract that they could recall him
Why did we allow that? Is Kyle Walker the only decent young right back around? Yes? Well why sell him. No? Well lets look elsewhere then and get a stable team.

My favourite of all
Football has a habit of kicking you in the balls

I know Micalijo will keep talking of getting rid of Blackwell, but theres no point in that if the new man keeps losing players.

Like I said before on BB's thread, I'm not mad at the Blades today, its the mistakes that have been made before today that makes me mad.

Yes we're well run, but only in the short term.

The club lost its mojo when we signed Beattie.

The decision to abandon passion, desire and good management and just throw money at unnecessary big names (on and off the field) was when it stopped feeling like Sheffield United.

As someone who started going in the early 80s, I don't hark back to days of great football although of course I'd rather watch good stuff than bad (as long as the results go with it).

We've had our boom (and blown it) and now we're in our period of bust and although I'm surprised to hear myself saying it, all credit to Blackwell that the dip hasn't been anywhere near as bad as it could have been.

I'm not giving up on the play-offs just yet but obviously it's going to be a struggle. It's not really this season I'm worried about, it's next season. I'll still be there though and I'm sure, eventually, we'll find the next team and manager to lead us back to the top flight.

Disagree it was a sign of ambition and to have a real go at getting back to the PL first time of asking. Unfortunatly we picked Barny Sornob to mastermind it all when all we needed from him was his contacts and nothing more.

Blackwell has got it wrong time and time again. He has spent a relative fortune and we are shite, totaly and utter shite given the wedge he has spent. Sod the sales, he has had advantages that circa 20 other managers in CC would only dream of.

We have and had the players to get automatic ,the problem is completely down to the manager for his selections and tactics. Its a shame there isn't a 7-a-side league for subs benches ,we'd piss it.

Raul.

I have been one of the more optimistic fans on here, I didn't agree with sacking Blackwell during that 8 game baron spell, and I don't see what it would achieve to sack him right now either. This hasn't been a sudden change today, I think I posted it a few weeks ago that if we don't go up I would be inclined to change the manager. I think Blackwell in that interview after Wembley shows he has an element of self doubt and I'm not sure mentally he would be able to gee himself up for another hard slog next season under stricter wage budgets.

I think what tipped it for me today was Walker going, I know he was going at the end of the season but for some reason I didn't really think about that, maybe I was hoping we'd win promotion, but with him out of the squad it's going to be a big blow.

I'm not pissed off with anyone in particular at United, just the whole club seems to need a kick in the arse.

What must it have been like for those brave souls who made the trek to Watford?
They must have been looking to see newly signed Yeates making his first start.Nope and why was Ward subbed ?
Well done to the people that made the trip, the team doesn't look good at he moment but we do have some of the best supporters in the country!
