Fair play to you. Is anyone willing to act as purseholder out there to payout the £400 to the winner to ensure there is no back-sliding by either party?

Happy to go with Whitehawk's suggestion loser pays into charity of winners choice. Done deal?ghandi , tell you what . Shall the winner of the bet chuck the money into a agreed charity . At the end of the day we both want the same thing . Promotion. You are a gent .

I don't mind the post mate but i can categorically say we did not overachieve last season,no way.At the start of the season promotion was the only thing in our minds and for reasons known we got nowhere near it.

Next one we will miss out on I reckon will be Tom Pope.
Question I'd like answered by the club is how come Winnall if he was a target finished up at Barnsley instead of The Lane if we have investment money?
I'm not saying Winnall is the answer I'm asking why can Barnsley out bid us?
Tell you what confused me, we had three targets that we missed because we couldn't meet financial demands of the player, so we miss the first target, but then doesn't that mean we have a third more to spend per player on the remaining two targets regarding wages? "Etc" when the second target is missed, or have we a wage cap in place, as I suspect, and hope to be honest..
Look at recent history and whenever SUFC have dared to put their hands in their pockets we have (even with average managers) done well. With the exception of Robson who was a terrible manager, look at Blackwell, Wilson, Spackman and Warnock when the money was pumped in we performed far better.
Warnock got us promoted when McCabe gave him a little money and allowed him players like Ifill. Probably our biggest achievement in the past 20 years.
Blackwell inherited a team of very good players and hence for a season or so we looked the dogs bollocks getting within a whisker of promotion. As soon as McCabe pulled the rug it slid backwards to where we were when Wilson took over.
Wilsons first season we had a good team and we played good football. It wasn't extravagant but when he was supported we once more got within a whisker of promotion and certainly one of the highest points hauls in recent history. Second season McCabe pulled the plug and hey presto backwards we went.
So we get to where we are today with Clough. A capable if unspectacular manager who most of us would say is doing a good job albeit with limited resources. Our patchwork team is going to be within touching distance of the play off spots if not automatic promotion come January. If we want out of this shithole division and we have faith in the man managing the team, shouldn't we put this game changing money into this team with a view to promotion?
Fact is, if we don't then we won't get promoted and we will be binning off another manager at the end of the season. Then where do we go? Law of diminishing returns tells you it won't be a better manager. Another untried and untested newbie? Not after what happened with Weir. So you go into the realms of journeymen in the hope we can attract someone who will work with no funding and work miracles.
For me, it doesn't have to be tens of millions but enough to get 3-4 quality players into the club. Not £200k bids but actually paying market rate and taking a chance. Because if we don't we will still be in the third division this season, next season and beyond.
Now is an opportunity to change our position. Its a chance for McCabe to put a more positive legacy in place but more importantly its an opportunity for us to go forwards as a collective rather than backwards and squabbling in a heap.
But that's it, we don't have any money to splash, it's alright saying "McCabe now's the time", but when we are not even in the top 10 richest clubs in league one we cant afford these 3-4 quality players
So game changing investment doesn't mean money into the club to "change the game" it means what?
It means we get new grass.![]()

Who knows what the game changing investment was, did anyone actually get a figure, not just a rumour about Liverpools budget?
No one actually knows what our financial state is, but I'm pretty sure we are not rich.

Agree with your comments on Tom Pope, he is an average league one player and we have enough of them already.Agree on Winnall and Bennett but not on Agard and O'Grady: Agard wanted to be back down south and O'Grady's wage demands were beyond us.
Tom Pope is exactly the sort of signing I'd expect us to make. He's 29 so would have minimal resale value and has had one good season in his career: three years ago in League Two. Signing players like him is what got us in this mess and it certainly won't get us out.
By definition game changing is big. It's big enough to change how we go about our business I would think. There is money to invest into the first team above what you would previously expected. Do you think that's a fair description of game changing?
£200 for each cause. Not that Linz & foxy are a "cause".That doesn't put the winner of the bet in an awkward position does it?![]()

My preference for the donation would be £150 to Silverfox's just giving site for the sleep-out and although not strictly a charity I'm sure Foxy and Linz would appreciate the remaining £50 towards the running of the site.
I leave Silverfox and Linz to let you have the details.
