Side issue - now York City are promoted to the EFL, I wonder whether SUFC U21 can/will use their ground for home matches next season. If not there, where?

If you are asking are we allowed to play on another EFL ,pitch , I believe we can purely on the basis I recall us playing at Doncaster Rovers last season ( but I don't know for sure )
I thought York City season ticket holders had probably the best "deal" in football, they to see York first team along with Blades , Leeds & Hull Under 21 teams , although Hull now seem to prefer North Ferriby ,, my choice for our Under 21 would be to play at BDTBL

I guess I'm more thinking - will an EFL Club (York City) want us to play U21 home games on their ground. We stopped using Chesterfield once they got promoted to the EFL.

That game v Brentford U21 at Doncaster was very much a one off. It was a play off semi final, that "had to be played" that weekend, at shortish notice, on the day Bramall Lane was being used for our Championship play off v Bristol City.

York, of course, is effectively a "Council Pitch" available for rent. So maybe the York Taxpayers will still want us there.

The issue with using Bramall Lane for more than the regulation minimum of U21 games is that we also have a Women's Team. We effectively have two teams, Men's first & Women's first, who need to play the whole of their seasons at Bramall Lane. That doesn't really leave much room for U21 games - hence why York has been used recently.

It wouldn't surprise me if we hunkered down to the regulation minimum at Bramall Lane and the rest at Shirecliffe.

Mclinchey looks decent at LB.
What happened to Tinsdale,he looked decent a year back, seems to have disappeared.

Although I know only U21s both Matos and Soumare have had good spells in the first half. Eadie Looks a bit of a handful and I wouldn’t surprise me if he is involved in some preseason matches with the first team

Looks like Faxon,Sachdev,Sasknauskas,Okyere,Mcglinchey..Matos,Soumare..Makhalere,Aston Giggs..Eadie

Phil, do you know how these play offs work. According to the Norwich website their u21 team have had a poor season and have finished near the bottom of their league, so it seems strange that they have made the end of season play offs.

Faxon is no where near first team level, I think we are likely to see Aston and Eadie soon. Giggs hasn’t done too much wrong either but be interesting to see if we can get that striker pairing or one of them playing with Bamford in preseason

Yeah. Top 16 of PL2 (the cat 1 teams) have a playoff for a winner. The next 8 (positions 17-24) playoff against the top 8 PDL (cat 2) teams. Because we finished second in the combined north and south divisions we play the 23rd placed team in the PDL2 which is Norwich in the round of 16. Simple right?! 😁

Matos is playing well and soumare shows such natural talent which is unfortunately wasted as he is has nothing whatsoever between his ears

Been a good watch. Really enjoyed this.

Matos is a funny player to watch in the Nick Montgomery sense of his second touch usually being a tackle but the bloke has run his blood to water tonight. Far from being the answer for us but it beggars belief he's not even made the bench for months.

Wilder froze him out with not much route back unless there was injuries.

I do think publicly saying that many players needed to go and the squad is too big, is why we hit that the rocks form wise.

Forcing an unfit Arblaster into the squad seemed somewhat daft.
