Great result
All we need now is for Phil to let us know what beers he's had and which bus he's caught home and our day is complete

Lancaster Brewery, Chinook on Cask at 4.2%

As for the bus home, am I misunderstanding? I don't maintain a home in the conventional sense. How could my lifestyle support that? Tomorrow morning, the Carrier Bag Firm will be traveling from Leyland to Birmingham ahead of the West Bromwich Albion game at the weekend. We will be availing ourselves of a floor to kip on from the Baggies Baggers.

We move from game to game.

Bet Khadra was happy, Hecky’s ‘managing minutes’ with half fit first teamers and he’s playing for the kids.

Decent pint?

Have to say, fair play to Marsh.

I know there will be some disappointment at losing Lankshear. No doubt he was prolific at U18 level. Not sure in terms of stats he’d quite converted that to U23s. Yes he scored a few but not the bullying he was doing at U18s.

It wouldn’t surprise me to learn that Marsh has got a conparable scoring rate to Lankshear at U23 level this season in contrast to Lankshear last season. I see Lankshear scored 6 in 5 starts and 9 sub appearances. I believe Marsh has 8 so far and they’ve only played 11 matches in total and in at least one of them he was sub so at the very best he has 8 in 10+1.

What Lankshear does with a football, Marsh can do with an orange.

Phil, how did JLT, Blaster and Khadra get on and on this showing do you consider any of the others look ready for the first team?

You rate Marshi highly do you Bergen?he seems to have loads of natural talent with the main one his finishing.
Don't get the chance to watch them these days !
We do seem to have lots of attacking flair now where it used to be defenders coming to the table and making the grade.

Fair questions. Let me get my Blog out this evening & I'll address some of that in there.

In fairness, you're comparing a first year scholar with a first year pro.

Age is but a number!

I'm not talking Lankshear down at all. He looked an excellent prospect ahead of his years.

There is still no saying Lankshear will definitely kick on to the numbers Marsh has this season at the U23 level though the level of opposition can be debated. You never know where they will plateau.

At least Marsh is showing some mastery at the level and he's quite possibly consuming the minutes we'd earmarked for Lankshear to a degree so fair play to him.

Lankshear made a good start with 2 goals vs Wolves at U18 level but he's been quiet since. Mainly reduced to cameos but he's played against Eintracht Frankfurt U19s, Wolves U21, Stevenage and Fulham U21 and he's yet to hit the net once more.

Not much sample size and I wish him well. But without getting carried away, pleased that Marsh has adjusted to the level without much game time there last season. It augers well for the future and just shows there is more than one in the pipeline. Williams scored twice against Wigan U21 too, so perhaps he's another to keep an eye on in the coming years.

Did he have something else planned for today?
I agree with you, we’re paying him and he does as he’s told. However I’m sure he probably had a sock fitting or a trip to find some smaller shin pads planned. He might feel a bit put out.

He's definitely stood out in many games I've watched. Very skilful and likes to run on the ball. It's difficult to say how he'll do against grown ups of course, he's still quite light weight.

Not only does he have skill he also has a good natural football brain, knowing when to make a run, how to make space and get ahead of his marker by reading the game v well.

I've mentioned Jack, Reda & Blaster in my Blog.

As for looking ready for the first team. There's a number of answers aren't there. Jordan, Jili, Andre, Ky and Arblaster have all had to step up anyway - ready or not.

There remains a huuuuge gap between Division Three Academy football and The Championship. Bridging that gap is the thing to do. And it's difficult.

Potter & Marsh are impressing. But the gap remains huuuuge.

There's definitely a David Brooks vibe going on, just in the touch and the way he moves the ball. Not saying that he's ready to be dropped in the first team, pick the ball up on the halfway line and go full David Brooks or anything, but some good signs.
