just wondering what you all think ... In a way not surprised he made all 3 at HT - to make an example.

But at 3-1 down bringing 2 central defenders on out of the 3 cannot win you the game ... You've lost it already in effect so surely it has to be 3 out and out substitutions designed to create and score goals then deal with the defence issues next game ???

Unthinkable to me that JCR was not one of the subs ... And then with Baxter going off one of our most recent goal threats

So I am wondering did NA make the right or wrong call at half time

The most ridiculous substitutions that I can remember in 30 odd years of following this club.. Made no sense whatsoever. We needed a midfield not another striker. J-Mac, woooooooooooooooooooo

45 minutes earlier the best place for Edgar was on the Bench, and Bash at the back

Then he changed it to Bash in the middle, and Edgar at the back

And then my favourite, the Captain makes a return, complete with armband

Bringing two defenders on at 3-1 down ad taking our main creative threat Baxter off was a complete joke.

My guess on Adkins' thinking:

He wanted four forwards on the pitch, four goalscorers. To get away with a 4-2-4 he needed two players who could hold their own physically in midfield, in his mind this was Basham and Hammond. As we would be going for it and take risks I think he was reluctant to keep Collins on due to his lack of pace.

Obviously it didn't work as well as hoped.

3-5-2 would have been a more logical solution for me.

But when has a side successfully changed both centre halves at half time? I agree with your interpretation of his thoughts and it demonstrates he's not thinking clearly. You just don't change both centre halves, whatever the reason (injury excepting).

Jose took two hefty knocks in the first half so at a guess his subbing was enforced but who knows with the bizzareness of swapping Jay Mac for Collins. It gave us no room to manoeuvre or change things around. Instead of the option to bring on JCR we had Sharp on the right of a front three who ended up a winger. One week from December and the manager would struggle to name you half of his first choice 11 and they would only be his favourites

He just made 3 changes to make a statement. 2 centre halves coming off or being changed was his big statement. Reed had to come off. It was like we had 10 men.

I would have replaced Freeman, Reed and Adams. They were awful but in reality any one of 11 could have come off.

As I say on other posts all this debate about tactics is garbage at moment. We are not winning 50/50's and passion is non existent.

Luckily for me, I am enjoying a bright, sunny autumn day in North Carolina, but I feel sorry for my missus, who had to go and sit through that, and then text me the result......

And then tell me that McNulty scored a hat trick........

And then tell me that Higdon scored.........

It's going to be a long flight home tomorrow, with me crying all the way.......
