Style of play

I must say I'm a big fan of 352 with marauding wing backs, a "number 10" and 2 up front. Some of the best football I've seen the blades play is under Nigel Spackman with Quinn and Borbokis maurading, Deane and Fjortoft up front and the quality of Kelly, McGrath, Holdsworth etc. at the back not to mention the likes of Dane, Hutchison in midfield and Patterson as the destroyer. If only we'd kept that team together.

I must admit one thing I really love watching is a quality striker who can pick up the ball and beat 2 or 3 players to create a chance for himself. Billy is a quality striker but not of that type. I'd love us to sign one to play with him who does that the way that Deane could in his day or Evans in 2012 or to some extent Blake and Bent did or even Kabba/ Webber when we got promoted. Lavery has shown glimpses but I worry about whether he as the timing and positional awareness.

My favourite style is to mix it up so it is confusing to the opposition. Mix playing through the middle and long regularly within the game so it is difficult for the opposition to set themselves up . The same applies to passing in into the goal mouth for tap-ins and shooting from outside the box (more of the latter is needed).

Fair points, to do that though, the point about Deane above is particularly relevant. We need a striker who can do both, run in behind and hold up the play. They'll be worth a bit.

Preferably:
Big
Fast
Strong
and ideally black

We're playing better football now than under any of those three ,with a style that is an upgrade on division one
Agree, now we play to strength of our players, that and an upgrade in efforts has put us firmly in the right direction

I used to love watching Blackpool in the premier league and Ian Holloway's just try and outscore the opposition football.

Not saying that I want us to do that, it obviously doesn't work but it is very entertaining to watch,
