really good day, nice little set up they've got up there.

Keepers

Long had a knock but he was warming up before the game

Neither of the other 2 had much to do but I was down at one end so only really saw ramsdale. Thought he looked confident and did a lot of talking, nearly got caught out by a direct corner

Defence

Brayford, didn't put a foot wrong but didn't do anything spectacular

Shaunessy, CM by trade I think but did ok nice and tall

Oconnell, big unit but not as tall as I was expecting. Missed a few headers early on but grew to into the game and looks strong and good on the ball

Hussey, looked good, got toward well and set up the first

Freeman, started rusty, tackled himself at one point but got better

Wilson, look decent but far away from me

Semple, big unit made a boo boo and miss a close shot but looked solid again too far away

Wallace, did well from what I could see

Midfield - looks like we played 4 4 2 first half? And 4 2 3 1 second.

Wallace, didn't get injured, looked good great ball to put Reid through for the second

Reid , got knocked about a bit but played some nice balls and did really well for the second

Whiteman, did ok

DCL didn't do a lot really sell him for me

Basham, looked good got stuck in

Brook, looked good (and about 14) made 2 good runs but needs to look up

Attack

McNulty, really got stuck in 2 good goals

Done, looked lively 2 good goals

Duffy , looks a real threat, switched wings and set up the 5th

Adams, looked sharp and strong well taken goal

Scougall, did well looked lively

Sharp, did ok didn't get much of the ball

Played well today. Reckon you can tell a lot from pre season, whenever we've looked good on these games we've gone on to do well in the season and vice versa.

Not the best opponents but some pleasing aspects today, we pressed well and genuinely looked to play the ball quickly (not just paying lip service to doing that like Adkins)

Positives
Duffy looked excellent, quick skillfull and good as passing. We might finally have a decent wide man for first time in years
Hussey - started poorly I thought but then started putting some great balls across.
James Wallace played well and did himself no harm if he wants to be involved
Young lads did well. Whiteman reed and brooks were picks imo.
New cb's played well enough.

Only real negative was second half wasn't quite as good. And our young keepers were really tested

Overall think the squad is shaping up and were on the edge of a strong starting 11 augmented by some good you players

I think exactly the opposite you can tell fuck all in a pre season kick about at Stocksbridge

You might be right.

Just from personal experience

We were unconvincing at alfreton last year and had a bad season.

Dire against Mansfield under Blackwell and he was sacked that season.

Where as we played really well against Matlock the season we went up to prem and won 14-1 or something.

Positive signs tho - looking to play the ball faster was the minimum required

Totally agree , preseason friendly games don't count for much whoever you are playing . We looked good last season against Newcastle but fell apart against Gillingham. The rest is history .

Winning does breed winning , but the main thing is understanding , tactics , getting to know each other , avoiding injuries and getting match fit for the new season. Wilder and Knill will want to win all matches which helps the players mentality .

Don't read much into friendly games , but a wins a win , whoever wears the shirt.

Pre-season is all about playing the Wilder way

Twitter feed on the match made a comment about how many times Wilder shouted at the players to move the ball quicker

Last season was so pedestrian it was unreal and they've now got to get out of that piss poor habit and that might take a little time

I want the Blades to win every game , however when it comes to pre season friendlys , I'll take the results with a pinch of salt , however if we smash Bolton 5 nowt , It will really be a 100 points 100 goal season .

Yep, I was sat behind him and the rumours are true, he wants it to move quickly

Thank god the football has started again. This close season seems to have gone on and on.

Who is shaunessy, do we have any background to his career?

Centre back / midfielder played for reading and Ireland at youth age groups. Assume he's been released from reading this summer

Thought Che looked to have dropped a few pounds and Sparky too but Freeman looked well overweight. I know it was only a friendly but thought Matt Done seemed to have his spark back too - all positives

Thought Brooks was a positive and is it just me that thought J Wallace has piled on a bit of timber???
