Shouldn't this be in the 'Twat' Thread. I know it says 'Twats the lot of them' but there is a lot of him and I wondered if you unzipped him if 50 little fat Evans would come running out?

Fat cunt Evans has a very selective view. In the first minute, one of our players got a forearm smash in the face. Mike Dean saw it, gave a foul but no yellow card (probably because it was 'too early'). Evans was going spare when Long picked the ball up just inside the box. Just because those fucking idiots from Rovram finally made some noise. As if Evans could tell from ground level.

Re. the penalty, as Pinchy and others have said, their guy was warned twice before manhandling 'arry to the ground. (mind, Radio Sheffield were no better - 'I didn't see the incident as I was watchng the ball.' What? A fucking corner coming across FFS?)

Evans could have been warned several times by the fourth official. He generally stayed within the 'techical area'. But his fucking massive belly was usually outside it.

Rotherham. Twinned with 'Shameless'.

Yep, Walker effectively tried to use it as an argument against the caller... He stopped him then essentially said a few times "I've got to be honest, I didn't see it" as if that some how meant it didn't happen.

A few minutes later, he discussed with a caller that Rotherham were weakened because they were without Frecklington, but "despite weakened, should still have probably had enough to beat United". Could have sworn we made the odd change too myself, apparently not.

All this talk about penalties, ours and their supposed ones, they are the leagues top scorers aren't they ?. They had 90 odd minutes to put ball past us but failed miserably, needed a penalty then Mr Evans ?, 'because your toothless goal machine was getting nowhere. Hardly siege of Alamo was it ?. Lose with a bit of good grace man. Automatic still possible but immediately throws towel in when they lose to us.

Here you go transcription of Evans' interview with Rob Staton.

Rob Staton: Steve, er thought on the big decision on the game, the penalty decision that has won this game for Sheffield united?

Steve Evans: Well I’ve just watched it, it’s a shocking decision from the referee, I’m not questioning his honesty but we’ve got 2 nailed on penalties, I’m talking about watching the playbacks now on prozone. I’ve just looked at the incident to give them a penalty, its just simply not a penalty, Harry has slipped over. Harrys just slipped, simple, the first one there’s a wee bit of barging, that kop end has screamed for a penalty and the referee gives it. It’s a premier league again, a premier league official again, we’ve had this (inaudible Scottish nonsense) season, its just a shocking decision.

RS: It’s a big decision to decide a derby game that late in the match?

SE: Well there’s 3 big decisions int there? There a handball in the box, which everyone in the ground including the Blades fans will think is a penalty and er Tom Hitchcock gets his ankle clipped, I’ve just watched it, he’s gone across him it’s a penalty, we don’t get that given erm and then to see the referee give that in the 90th minute is particular gruelling erm and I feel for my players because that’s a premiership standard referee, I’ve just briefly spoken to him and I’ll go back and speak to him again and he said even after he has watched the DVD he will still think he has got it right. Deary me, some people at some levels have problems don’t they? If he says when I look at the DVD I will still have got it right. Erm so were disappointed but we’ll regroup, we’ll erm, you know, a few games to finish the season and we’ll get ready for the play offs and we wish Sheffield United every success on Sunday and hopefully we don’t see them next season for obvious reasons.

RS: Overall were you not quite at your best tonight?

SE: No I think the first 25 minutes we weren’t at it, you know we had to tamper with out shape a little bit didn’t we and erm that didnee quite work for us, I think arguably the second half we put them through the ringer didn’t we, we’ve had a lot of possession, a lot of the ball in good areas, don’t think many time in our box, not constructive, from an offensive point of view. When you put it all together, there a big decision that separates the sides, it wouldn’t have been a big decision if he had given one of the penalties at the other end. To give that one, I’ve just watched it Rob and Blades and Millers fans will watch it tonight, listen both have got red and white blood, red and white glasses, but they’ll know that’s not a penalty.

RS: Hmm and it’s the kind of decision you don’t often see given in a big game?

SE: Well we’ve got a big match referee, who told me that even you have to listen to these words, ref when you look at the DVD like I have just done, the playback of it you’ll think perhaps it not a penalty and his answer was I’ll still think it’s a penalty regardless of what it shows me. Well haha there’s no point in us talking to them anymore is there?

RS: Is it definitely play offs now, I mean Brentford have won tonight?

SE: Yeah Play offs it is, automatics gone, big decision in the 90th minute to take that away from our team innit? Big decision, don’t they keep the premiership refs in the premier league? We said it against wolves earlier in the season, penalty, yeah and we had it today, its not very good is it?

RS: Is it a good thing that you get another big game, similar to this on Friday now?

SE: No its hard to turn the players round now, there’s a lot of tired people in there, we’ve had some huge games that we’ve had to contend with, so we’ll freshen it up, you know we’ll make some changes, you know we wont pretend that people are making it when they aren’t first time players when they are all first team players, we’ll make 4 or 5 and they will be first team players but erm we’ll lick our wounds, we scored a lot of late goals, I don’t think we’ve had any penalties given to us like that, I don’t think many do and we feel particularly robbed tonight when that takes our opportunity to still be fighting in the next 3 or 4 weeks away.

RS: No Lee Frecklington tonight, is he going to be ok for Friday?

SE: Yeah there’s a chance he will be fit, you know again we wont take any risks with Lee, I could have taken a risk with him tonight and the plan was always to give Micky and Robin 45 minutes each, they need some games and tonight we were forced into that. We’ve got young tommy on the basis on his Hat Trick but he was quiet tonight wasn’t he?

RS: Steve thanks for your time.

SE: Pleasure

I agree with
I always looked out for the local clubs in my younger days and wanted them to do well. I still do for Chesterfield, but as for the others my sympathy's have changed.
Rotherham - Having met a few Rotherham fans, I cannot believe the bitter chip they have out of their shoulders relating to us.Particularly after their bucket collections when they nearly disappeared, the attitude is sad and pathetic, I would rather see Russ Slade and LO get promoted.
Doncaster - Remember being chuffed to bits when they regained their league status. Unfortunately they have short memories and have a similar attitude to Rotherham, suddenly thinking they are a massive club. The gloating when we got relegated was unreal, they do well to punch well above their weight in the Championship.
Barnsley - Thick dingle two hats, need I say more!

100% this. The provincial clubs a getting a bit too "massive" for my liking. couldn't stand the donny fans crowing last season and rovrum are the same this season. Next year it'll be chesterfields turn to pretend they're bigger than us but hopefully we'll have a proper team by then

Which second half did Rotherham "put us through the wringer" ? I must have been at another game.

Fucking idiotic interview.

They were terrible.
Pissed myself when I heard him come out with that, yep they absolutely battered us second half, we hardly got a look in
Yep correct me if im wrong i dont recall them having 1 shot in the second half ,what a twat he really is

Personally think his assistant Paul Raynor is the biggest *anker seen in a dug out at the Lane.

I was stuck at work last night down here in Ashford (Middlesex) so missed all the fun, but believe me when I say reading the transcription of that interview has made my morning. Talk about a stuck record.

Yes Walker also has come on and said a 'controversial penalty decided the game' . Controversial to whom? Evans only. all the Rotherham fans did not dispute it. Anyone who had reasonable view at our end thought it was.
PW going for the sensationalism again.

He claimed for handball in our box when his view was through 3 players.

I'm sure there's a spot for him in the next Avengers film with that xray vision. Possibly not a Lycra suit though.

Evans in lycra?

What yer thinking Linz?

I started this thread by highliting the exceptional job Evans has done for Rotherham, and that is beyond dispute. It disappoints me when fans make a big deal of someone's weight, and many of those posters are no oil paintings themselves, but that's life.

Last night Evans and his sidekick cut unsavoury figures with their antics and blatant efforts to put pressure on the referee. In truth its only what many managers do and seem to think its part of their job these days. NC and his team do it week in week out, but to much lesser degree.

Last night I thought Rotherham were unlucky not to get the handball penalty, and on another day could have got the other shout. This is the thing with referees like Dean, it depends what mood he's in; the fact remains you cant help leaving the ground with an uneasy feeling that Dean all too often decides the result of games, as we well know to our cost in the past. Our penalty? Stonewall, but not one Dean gives week in week out I'm afraid.

As for the Rotherham team last night, I thought they were a throwback to the old hoofball teams of the past. High long balls and pick up of the second ball. They threw men forward in chase very quickly and soon broke up the game with a foul if they lost possession. Very effective way of playing at this level but it will only take them so far. Not for me thank you very much.

I see your point but I've very little time for people in professional sport who are overweight. He may be a manager, but blimey, would you take fitness advice from him if you were a player? :)

That wound me up as well, Walker was like an apologist for Evans and Rotherham in general. Sometimes get the impression that they run scared of Evans, as he listens to Football heaven...... that makes him a bigger knob then.

He is the coach of a professional sports team, he along with the whole squad are a role models to the tens of kids of that follow Rotherham United.

Therefore he ideally should not resemble the star of a Channel 5 obesity documentary.

If you want to write a thread of your love for Evans, there is a non blades section. In regards to the referee, is this the same Mike Dean who was the referee against Wigan and sent off Killa at Hillsborough?

This is the first decision we have had off him in 10 years

There was another fat assistant who struggled to get out of the dug out. He ended up just chucking the pork pies to Evans.

Didn't Brian the Blade say something on the lines of, "I only hope if Rotherham don't win Evens doesn't start blaming the referee".
on football heaven ?

My favourite is his assertion that the decision robbed Rotherham of their chance to still play "for something in the next 3 or 4 weeks." What a load of cobblers. The one extra point would not have made any difference. Brentford are gone either way...

Yeah... why pick on his weight when he's obviously such a nice, upstanding gent.

Local radio presenters and hack sports reporters (let's not flatter them as journalists) have this curious view of themselves as capable of sitting in judgement on the opinions of people who very likely know far more about the game than the said hacks.

They really should let me take over Praise and Grumble for a week. It would, for a change, be interesting.

Might I put forward shorehamview as call-screener/co-presenter. The fence (made out of pallets, naturellement) would not be sat on rather smashed to pieces and set on fire.

From Rob Staton's Twitter...

Steve Evans tell me #RUFC let the fans down on Tuesday night. Still doesn't think it was a penalty but says performance wasn't good enough. "if you'd read the post match comments you'd think it was Real Madrid that beat us..." "I would never play football like that let's say it as it is.... We didn't perform. We'll take it on the chin."
