And thats not acceptable for a striker or a target manI would regard this as a certainty unless we are also in for O'Grady.
My prediction if he signs: 30 odd games, single figure goals.

Are you predicting a nice tan as well Rev?

His performances will need to be an awful lot better than a they were at the end of last season.Reed and Doyle. Give Reed his head. Baxter and Scougall are not box to box players with enough energy.
BTW I really do think we need to inspire Reed now. He has been away with the England squad and he will realise more than ever just how good he is. That's not to say I don't think Clough has not done very well with Reed's development, he has, but we need Reed more than he needs us at this stage of the season.
Holt? No thanks.
Only just seen this thread, you think Scougall is not a player with enough energy yet you'd have played Doyle, that's a strange oneReed and Doyle. Give Reed his head. Baxter and Scougall are not box to box players with enough energy.

S Davies is this years donkey we have signed post Jan that won't score following in the footsteps of Paynter, Forte, Beattie, Bent......
You've not seen him play have you , to label him a donkey and put him in the same category as porter and Higdon ,is just stupid.and, Porter, Higdon etc - totally agree, but NC won't see this and buy the Blackpool 'donkey'...
I like Davies. Decent in the air, holds the ball up, fairly mobile and decent with both feet BUT if we do not play two up front then not sure he/we would score enough goals. Do think if Done gets fit and those 2 were able to play a run of games, they would scored a lot next season but have a feeling Clough still is convinced we will sign O'Grady. I would prefer O'Grady but unsure the difference between the two is that great.

And the Reed comment is just ludicrous.

Reed needs to prove himself to us, not the other way around.

Without reading all posts, can I ask why my post on 1st April is suddenly attracting attention? ( You and Wiz) Have I missed something?
Looking back though I have to say it was an excellent OP!
Because Steve Davies, with his modest scoring record and poor injury record, has been released by Blackpool and knowing our manager will be a Blades player shortly...
Better team and in a lower league. A strike force of Davies, O'Grady, Done and McNulty would be decent.8 goals in 33 games for us and Blackpool last season. I think he can do better in a good team, though he may become second choice if O'Grady comes.
yeah they 've gone 4-3-3 now get with the program (see barcelona) or 4 2 1 3 or whatever.. for the front three i'd like to see big bloke up front who can score goals.. two nippy players in behind .. read suarez.. messi.. neymar.. or benzema.. bale .. ronaldo.. so whoever.. done.. adams at this levelSigh, it's descended into a 4-4-2 discussion again. Most teams have moved on from this relic of the twentieth century - have you all picked out the two new CMs that we're going to buy who are good enough to play against an extra man?

Bournemouth play with 2 up top - figure that one out.
Their midfield still contribute but they play with a pair of front men
Fair point. I think the thread was revived and I noticed the date after typing. I nearly deleted but then considered that the point still holds. Reed still had a lot to prove. I'm sure you agree.Without reading all posts, can I ask why my post on 1st April is suddenly attracting attention? ( You and Wiz) Have I missed something?

On occasions they do when they're starting Pitman, but they have very, very good midfielders behind them and very, very good centre backs that play week in week out giving them the best spine in the division, so they can get away with it. When they're playing Kermogant it's clearly not a 4-4-2, he's an attacking midfielder/#10
The reason i only just raised the point is in the first line of my post. I have only just seen the thread, otherwise i'd have raised it earlier wwf. Out of the faults Scouggs has one of them isn't a lack of energy, that's all i wanted to say and i would still say that in 3 years time or back on the 1st of April.Without reading all posts, can I ask why my post on 1st April is suddenly attracting attention? He's looked good at time and shit at others. Age is on his side (though size isn't) and I hope he makes it. I wouldn't be overly surprised if he didn't.I think Reed has two years or more to prove anything but I also think he has proved he can have a brilliant future.
Other players in our midfield choices on 1st April had proved to me that they are simply not good enough and BTW Doyle was not one of those.
