There's little point in offering a contract to football managers these days, very little loyalty ls shown. Remember when Bruce walked out on us and how most felt that he was a disloyal arse. Is Speed so different, and should he receive the unflattering commments that were directed towards Bruce?. Mind you, I can't say I'm sorry to see him go. I just hope that we get someone who is up for a relegation scrap. Blackwell anyone? We should be careful who we wish for eh.:

I totally agree regarding Bruce and Speedo two peas ina pod! As for Blackwell - he helped get us into this! no thanks

With his poor record as a manager isn't it a good thing that he has run off to Wales? We have even managed to get some compo out of it.

Speed isn't a bad manager, or a bad person, but the job has proven too big for him.

In my experience there are two types of managers (generally). The ones who shout about what they haven't got, and how can anyone expect them to succeed without it, and the ones who can make the best of what they have. Speedo appears to be one of the former, and the likes of Warnock and Paul Hart are the latter. Difficult to get the best out of any team if you are maintaining that they are not good enough to do the job, no matter how true it is.

Good luck to Gary and thanks for not wasting any more of our time. He's probably saved us from relegation...

Agree, DD. Whether he's a 'good man' or not, we were only going one way with him in charge.

And as for the ever-present charge about 'not having much money/crap players', that applies to most teams. Whenever I see any other team in our division, it's stark that they always have more tactics than we have shown in years. They also all have at least one stand-out player who they have discovered from God knows where. If they can do it, why can't we?

This rot has been going on for years. Where are our scouts and, if we have any, WTF are they doing? Under Blackwell, Kidd used to snooze the game away right in front of me. Now Ellis does the same. Very large new broom needed.

I see a big difference in the two. One is leaving to manage his national side, how many managers would turn down that opportunity, irrespective of nationality? The other left us for the promise of big bucks at Huddersfield.

It's too early to tell if Speed will turn out to be a good manager or not. His record for us is rubbish, but we know that it's a difficult job right now.

When Bruce left there was a sense of disappointment. Now there's a sense that we've probably got out of gaol free. That's why there's a difference in reaction.

UTB

I could fully understand why Bruce bailed out when he had one chairman telling him he had to sell then another chairman telling him he didnt whilst both of them fought over who owned the club. He owed us nothing for my money.

Speed has no reason to leave, he has a job to do, he should be doing it. Not fecking off to Wales

Wonder where he got the idea of baling out now the going has got tough from?

According to 909 last night most blades that were textin in think were getting a get out of jail free card losing speed and getting compo. I have to agree as i don't think we should have appointed within the club last time and hope we don't this time.

Dunc, your positivity reads like revisionist history. This isn't an opinion of Speed I remember you espousing before. (?)

It seems like we all lapse into our positive and negative caricatures in response to every major event. When the truth is that Speed might have succeeded or he may not have. He might have refused the Wales job given more resources at BDTBL. He might not.

The most salient fact here is that 3 managers in half a season is a bloody awful mess.

But with Blackwell you find loyalty at least, players sold from under his nose, no real public backing from the board, constant gripes and boos from fans, fans lining up a new manager for the premiership before we even kicked a ball in the playoff final.... Dont know what youve got till he's gone!

Yes we do that's why we are so very glad he's gone.

I agree with the wishes of good luck. As for avoiding relegation, that depends on who our next managerial appointment is.

I think the fact that Speed took the Wales job probably indicates that there is going to be no money available in January.

I feel that McCabe's recent comments (or was it Birch?) about us having two 'new' players available soon when Williamson and Henderson return from injury was very telling.

Whatever we may think about the matter, I think we are going to be expected to get by with what we've got.

Well at least that post has brightened my day.

Loyalty? Leeds. Not just anyone though, LEEDS!
Who was lining up a new Premiership Manager before the play off final? Don't remember anyone thinking "Old Negativity" would have the bollocks to go and win it in the first place.
As for not knowing what you've got. Well getting rid of Hoofy was like taking off your wives stilletoes having been to a fancy dress party as Tim Curry even though they're 3 sizes too small and 4" high. The relief of getting the bastards off (or the bloke out of the club) is almost worth a celebration wank.
