I'm risking the wrath of the forum police but in my defence m'lord, Mr Bruce was once manager of the Blades.

Anyway, if you have time, I think you will all enjoy the attached link which is a review of one of Steve Bruce's published novels - unbelievable, but true. Enjoy....

Not read the review but without giving away the ending I bet it was the ref's fault.

Btw Terry Venables was a co-writer on Hazell wasn't he? Sorry, I mean 70s wisecracking cop drama Hazell.

Talking of which I used to work with Peter Willis, one of the founders of Def Lepard. Consequently I had a copy of their very first EP (as they were called in them days) It had pictures of the original band members on it which they had all signed. A while after my eldest left home he came round and 'borrowed' the said EP. Several years later I saw on EBay that this was now worth over a grand. I rangmy son up and told him I would like the EP returning, only to be told it was no longer in his possession.I wont repeat what my reply to that was.

Oh man, that is very unfortunate. I was just on about some computer kit which I couldn't sell in Computer Mart so I wanged it at the tip. Then along comes the internet, and ebay in particular, and now people want to buy all that stuff - commodore amigas etc. That lad of your deserved his bollocking for that, and I bet he got nowt for it either - kids eh?

In one of the books Hazell is outside Wembley, he hear the Blades fans cheering as they lead and beat West Ham in the FA cup final. Hazell find himself in the middle of marching and singing Blades as he investigates. Good read in the 70's

I think he created the character 'Hazell' as well as being co-writer.

My mum had all the Beatles autographs on a photo of her from 1963 and she stupidly 'lent' it to a friend - and it was never returned.
