Good bloke, good badminton player as well, played for Tapton in the Sheffield League paired with his dad, Stan, in men’s doubles.

I remember him well. He went to the same school as my sister. I'm sure he was either a pig fan or he played for them as a teenager. He came to our house occasionally there's no way he was getting into our house. I've no idea how he ended up at the lane

IIRC he was on Wednesday's books as a junior. He went to the states for a couple of years on a football scholarship. On his return he joined United as Wednesday (under Jack Charlton?) didn't show enough interest.

Which school? Sir Harold Jackson (Bradway) or Rowlinson?

I think he went to Rowlinson

I always remember stood outside the penny black (As a 13 y old) waiting for my dad…Somebody came in and told me to bury the shirt I was wearing… It was the big red stripe shirt…I was gutted.
But since then I’ve loved the Bob Hatton/Barry Butlin shirt even more.

Said it before but he was one of my tutors at Norton College. 2003-05 I think, used to go for a run every lunch time. He was a machine

Limited player in a very poor team.
That's it really.
My one good memory of him is him getting to the by-line on the left wing against Rotherham in the last minute and putting over a great cross which Pedro Verde headed home from 2 yards out in front of the kop to give us a 1-0 victory and just keep alive our already diminishing hopes of promotion. Come to think of it, it's my one good memory of Verde as well.
I also hated the shirt.
