Just read an interesting interview with Caulker in which he talks about all the internal demons he's faced and his battle with depression. Happily it seems like he's taken some fairly positive steps in 2017

Makes you realise how easy it is for anyone to suffer from additions - something which gets glossed over by the amount of money on offer in football and something that clearly football could do with more education around.

But it does state at the end of that despite Holloway wanting to keep him the QPR owners want shot of him.

Would anyone fancy taking him? Chance to get his life sorted out and Wilder seems like the right kind of manager to motivate and encourage players particularly those not starting every week. He's still young and a former England international even when he wasn't operating at his max.

I bet his wages at QPR are ridiculous.

I wouldn't be surprised if was on more than £30k a week.

Exactly the type of CB we need if was to come on reduced wages with a point to prove he could make himself a lane legend we would all be behind him

Crystal Palace offered him £42,000 pw before QPR signed him and he signed for them because they bettered it. Can see him being willing to take a wage cut because of the issues off the pitch but not that much.

Not sure a club with the old school drinking culture we have would be the best place for him at this stage of his recovery even if we could afford his wages. Not sure he would want to leave London & the support network he will undoubtedly have down there either.

Been told to leave, and is a southern lad.

Even if we could get somewhere near his wages, I don't feel we are the club for him and I'm afraid I feel it is unlikely the lad will be a top player again. His illness will not go away or be cured.

Just left QPR by mutual consent. Suffered with depression etc.

Wilder and the psychologist could get the best out of him. Available for free.

Kept a close eye on this one. Would probably take a year to get him up to speed. He’s a full weighter by all accounts, go and ask Levy

Gave a deep interview at the start of the season about his depression and addictions he’d been suffering. Came across really well in that and as if he was ready to turn his career around.

He’s played for England and would be the best defender in this division imo if fit and firing. Wilder isn’t beyond giving people a second chance if he can tell they are ready to work for it - suspect if he’s after high wages that could be an issue but he’ll certaibly find a club

Played for England once etc bla bla.

Purely in footballing terms he'd do a job, but he's not brilliant.

DUNDEE SIGN CAULKER

Dundee have announced the signing of Steven Caulker.

This season, he has featured for QPR but after leaving by mutual consent last month, he joins Dundee on an 18 month deal and will wear the number 4.

Very good player, who deserves the opportunity, a lot of respect to him to for making this move, clearly not there for the money, Id imagine he's on a pay as you play type deal too. Just needed to get out of the limelight having said that he would have been better somewhere like Spain imo, but either way GLTTL.

has depression and signs for dundee. interesting approach :D glttl

Decent enough player on his day but wouldn't come cheap and far too much of a project to make signing him worthwhile.

He’s one I would watch over the course of rest of the season and go from there.
