I'm not a big stats man. Not since Championship Manager 2 many moons ago. However, I invested my £1 (very good discount Blades, very good) in a programme at the first home game.

At the back is a bit about appearances, goals and assists.

Yeates - something like 8 assists and a goal in 11 starts (and about the same in sub appearances)

On that basis I say give the man a run!

Another stat was Blackie using 4 players at RB in 3 games (Lowton, Ward, Kozzy, Ertl) and bemoaning 3 of them aren't right backs. To which I say "play a right back there then!" I hope we sign Calve as I cringe watching the Kozzmeister. . . and i've not even seen Calve.

Cotterill had similar stats. I suspect the only stat Blackwell was interested in was 'km ran per game.'

Another stat for our delectation: Andy Taylor has made 30 appearances for United, and has been subbed in 10 of them. What do people think, personally I think he's not good enough. How often do you see full backs get subbed, never mind on one third of their appearances.

Statistically, at Hartlepool, he also played like he'd got his boots on the wrong feet and perhaps picked up the wrong size :)

IMO he would be better suited to playing in the next division down.
Cannot see that he will improve, his postional strength is woeful.what ever Blackwell saw in him is beyond me.
Suggest we move him on at the first opportunity.

I'd say Blackie recognised Taylor isn't going to develop as much as maybe he thought he might but either couldn't move him due to lack of interest or thought he could be back up to Jordan who only seems to manage 25 games a season.

Incidentally our new contract winners Quinn, Morgan and Monty were the ones who played the most games. So staying fit enough to actually play a full season may have influenced the decision. Value for money and all that.

And we did sign him from Tranmere - the next division down.
