I wouldn't. Don't think he's a starter.
Certainly not there.
Sub for now.
Can't afford to be carrying people.
Loads of talent. Be a great option from the bench.

Duffy always makes the right decision, Brooks doesn't...yet

Do you think that he played well today? I thought he looked out of sorts.
I thought Duffy was his usual self. Excellent until the tank runs out and then he needs to be off as soon as possible. Duffy knows when and so does Wilder

Brooks has got end product. Just wait until he has someone to pass to.... like he had with Donaldson at Sunderland. Didn't he set up Evans in the first half only for him to have a touch instead of shooting first time?

And he is in no way a passenger. He is hardworking and makes sensible decisions with the ball.

Every game he produces things no one else in our squad can. He did at least two such things today.

Not sure whether we should start him next week but I'd have no problem with him playing off Donaldson. If Sharp's not fit I'd consider playing him instead of Clarke.

Little Brooksy is an exciting player to watch but does need more experience. I hope we hold on to him because when it all clicks into place he will be awesome. Good pace, natural with the ball at his feet and has vision. UTB

Presumably you blinked as his delightful flick nutmegged their defender and put us into a dangerous position in their box.
And then what happened. ? The lad has potential and will develop but for me he has more impact off the bench at the moment

He has unbelievable control and skills, he is going to be a revelation. Play him behind Sharp & Donaldson.

#goforit

Not for me. If Donaldson or Sharp are fit either get in above him.

God knows how he got voted MOM. If he was 24 and we had bought him, nobody would have voted. The fact he's come through and young is the only reason he won.

He wasn't shit by any stretch but was nowhere near MOM. Maybe 4th choice

Wilder was happy with him after the game so wouldn't be surprised if he started if one of Billy and Donaldson are out. He's raw but he's like something we haven't got outside maybe Duffy. Someone who can take a man on

Thought he did well...created the chance first half for himself, brilliant turn,unlucky...picked out Coutts for his shot wide...got behind on the right again 2nd half, drew free kicks like the one on the left slipping past a couple...Even chased back to win the ball 35 yards first half.

Three or four times today he excited the shit out of me, thought how the hell did he do that. Only concern is he is still a young lad and occasionally got knocked off the ball very easily due to his size, in fact clattered but overall did well and def one we need to hold on to for Chris and Alan to develop.

And then someone else had the ball and should've done better...

I agree he should be coming from the bench still but don't pretend he wasn't involved to suit your point because that's plain bollocks.

Behind who? Think Coutts was our best player (again...) but struggling to pick others that were better than Brooks. Maybe O'Connell and Basham?

He is exciting to watch but for me never grabbed the game by it's neck. He was in and out of the game too much.

I think people are being harsh on Evans who was "ok" and the two crosses he put in were perfect for a CF to get on the end of. Unfortunately we had none.

Coutts. O'Connell, Wright and Basham were all above Brooks for me.

It's no coincidence that Norwich did sod all in their final 3rd

Thought Wright was a bit sloppy in possession yesterday. Presented them with a couple of really good chances by giving it away in dangerous areas.

He had one shot on target, not bolloaks in the slightest.

Thinks that's harsh.

He's not the finished article by any means but I can't think of anyone that did more in an offensive sense.

His shot on target came after getting past the defender in a way no one else in our side could.

He played people in for crosses with great tricks and backheals a couple of times

Picked a long pass out of he air and showed strength and skill to beat his man one on one at the by line.

Ball across to Evans who couldn't quite shoot.

He also ran back about 60 yards to win the ball back.

People are dreaming if they think a player like this won't occasionally lose the ball. He is a creative player and it won't come off every time but for me it was a very good full league debut

That little jink and shimmy down the goal line first half...left 2 of their players and all their fans screaming the ball had gone out.
It was like the ball was glued to his foot.

Don't be daft, he was MOM and our only threat.

You're the daft one. The Brooks Obsession has become embarrassing.
He has quick feet, a good football brain, a bit of pace and one or two tricks. He also has a great deal to learn, understandably so.

He wasn't involved in the game much at all. He should have scored when he was. Not criticism of the lad, just balancing the lunacy.

Absolutely right in every particular, but The Obsession won't have it...

Really? I thought he dissappeared in the 2nd half and Carruthers and Thomas looked better than him when they came on.

Brooks will learn but his final ball was often poor today and he gave no support to Evans who was isolated up front.

This x100.

I'm the daft one lol
And the rest that made him MOM, are they all daft?

That's because you're choosing Brooks as your starting point with a head start on everybody else. Coutts was our best player as usual, followed by Jack the Hat and Bash. Duffy was also ahead of Brooks.

Yes they are, Lol (or should I call you Lawrence)? They are all getting carried away with Bladey Boyband mania. It is, as I've said, embarrassing. He's not Pele. He's not Maradona. He's a young kid learning his trade with a long way to go before he's first (or even eleventh) on the team sheet.

None of this is criticism of a very promising young player.

Young Brooks is a talent in the making for sure. He can do things that others in our squad can't but obviously needs more experience to aid his decision making. Whether that is gained from starting or as a sub is debatable. My personal suggestion is that he will have more impact in this learning process as a sub as opposition should be tiring in the second half.

I also think that he needs one or two "minders" to remind opposition players not to physically bully him or they will get more of the same in return

Fine debut from Brooks that.

He faded, as you'd expect, but he was a real threat & willing to try the outrageous.

Just needs the game-time to properly click with those around him. He's gonna be fantastic for us.

And, personally, I hope he starts next week.

Completely agree.

One bit of advice to Brooks from a total know nowt... If you get the ball in the opposition box, keep hold of the thing and do your tricks. You will be fouled. Twice he offloaded when it's time to gamble.
Totally agree with you. That's what he did every week last year and he is murder to tackle in the box. Got a good few pens as well as goals. Is he ready to start next week

Personally I'm happy to see Brooks alternating with Duffy, either on a match basis or during the match. Having them both in the team is counter-productive, too much clever stuff in midfield and no end product. Having said that, the real problem yesterday was Freeman (again). Not good enough at this level.

I'm not choosing anyone as a starting point. In football, you have to score a goal (or sometimes more) to win a game of football. Brooks threatened their goal more than anyone else in our team yesterday. For that reason I think he was one of our best performers. Of course he could have done better and is still very much a work in progress but that was a very good debut for someone his age.

When you quite rightly point out these agendas and unjust obsessions, you seem to end up going too far the other way in order to back up your point. Brooks was good yesterday, certainly one of our better players. On reflection I agree that Coutts, JOC and Bash were probably better and more involved in helping us control possession. Disagree with Duffy, thought he was OK but played it too safe.

Still think Duffy is a much more accomplished player than Brooks and should still keep the shirt for a while yet.
