Bradford City have one star above the badge on their shirt to commemorate their one major honour, the Cup in 1911. Should we do the same?

Not for me. In Italy you have to win 10 'scudetti' to get a star, ie it really means summat. I predict the sun will implode before we got one under that arrangement!

How about we play "Tom Hark" a number of tmes before kick off. Each spin of the bouncy "Piranas" ditty could signify a League win. The fans could sing "der der der" while raising and lowering each arm in time with the jaunty beat. Or even pretend to clutch an imaginary trophy.

Then, even if we don't score during the game, the pre-teen fans will leave feeling happy.

It would be naff.

Has anyone else done the Bernabeu stadium tour? They are ridiculously keen to emphasise just how many trophies they've won, and it comes across as desperate, which is odd considering how they are probably the world's biggest club. I felt like 'Yes... I know you have won trophies... that's why we are all here. Now show me something actually interesting.'

Why not? Every other club does it and it proves we have actually won something before. :)

No man city's frustrate me enough for how pointless they are, pig fans would never stop taking the piss out of us and vice versa if they feel the need to add any to their badge.

Absolutely not. Stars should only be for World Cups, and either league titles or major European honors...and that's at a push. If a club feel's they have to put a star on their kit to remind everyone they've won something then thats pretty sad...especially if its dating back to pre war!!

What a stupid idea. If the FA said it was a new thing and that all clubs could do it based on league titles then yes I'd happily do it. We wouldn't see any on our badge though as they would only give a star per 5 or 10 titles.

Imagine how silly Man Utd would look with 20 stars. Maybe 4 would be OK (based on 1 per 5). Luckily we'll never have to worry about it.

Oh and man city can fuck right off with theirs.

should we win the Champions League then sure, otherwise it's pathetic.

Edit: Sorry Swiss - What he said.

I thought we trolled the depths when we had a shirt with Club Directors names on it it

A better idea would be badges to be earned and put down the sleeves of the shirt like cubs and scouts, just imagine it, " look dad we've earnt out 10th consecutive playoff defeat badge"...........

Hmm, I've had a bit of a rethink about it following what mattbianco1 said. I can see merit in it if it was made official. When you look at the big picture in football (and any sport, really) the whole thing is utterly futile and pointless but for the honours and the memories. Limit it to European titles, league titles and cup wins, with a proper recognised system in place, then I'd be happy with that: No piss-taking, a nod to clubs' heritages and past achievements - I'm in!

Hmm, real life FIFA achievements. "Hey look, we've lost without touching the ball!".

How's this?
  • Gold star for a Major European Win (CL, Europa League, old Cup Winners Cup and Uefa Cups).
  • Silver star per 5 League Titles
  • Bronze star per 5 domestic cup wins
Using that system Manchester United would have:
  • Gold = 4 (3 CL & 1 CWC)
  • Silver = 4 (20 titles)
  • Bronze = 3 (11 FAC 4 LC)
They have also won a Super Cup, Intercontinental Cup and World Club Cup which I haven't accounted for.

AC Milan would have:
  • Gold = 9
  • Silver = 3
  • Bronze = 1
Real Madrid would have:
  • Gold = 12
  • Silver = 6
  • Bronze = 3
Just to confirm SUFC would have:
  • Gold = 0
  • Silver = 0
  • Bronze = 0 (1 more cup win for a bronze)

Well THAT would need addressing!

How about pips for domestic cups and league titles and stars for major European wins.
Bronze for single wins, silver for 5, gold for 25?

(would that give us 1 silver pip and our local rivals 1 silver, 3 bronze?)

Have a like for that sentence alone (you'd have two if it were possible).

Should be tatooed on the arse of every supporter who glories in our cup exits in favour of league "progress".

I found it quite depressing when I first thought it as a youngster but make peace with that fact and everything is good in the world. :)

Instinctively I was going to click -No but stopped and thought about it and went for -Yes.

But it has to be done in the right way: not we don't have to bother bc we've done it all in the past, more we've got tradition and history, we should value and honour that it in what we aspire to for our club.

It's the same as the announcement that BDTBL is the oldest professional football stadium in the world, or whatever the exact wording is.

You can either use that to rest on your laurels, live in the past, and achieve nothing, or you can use it to motivate you to get back to where you "belong".

Well used it could actually be very motivational, forward thinking, and attractive to players (and investors).

I believe they call this sort of thing having a vision.
