Well I've a shed load of toilet rolls bought just before lock down.

I'll be chucking them at the television as the teams come out.

Reyt atmosphere.

I've got some condoms that are going out of date (and since I can't touch anyone...) so going to blow them up and knock them around my living room. When someone scores, I'm going to pop one.

I only need a 3-pack for Villa, which is not normally the case when visiting Birmingham.

As I have two boys, I naturally chose the only one who has given me a grandchild so far.

Can't understand why anybody would. I want to watch the game. First choice would be inside the stadium. Second would be on telly.
Standing.outside means I dont see the game at all, get wet and cold, look like a knob, probably get moved on.

Esp if the chippy is shut

I could not think of any conceivable reason why you would go to a stadium with no chance of getting in!
Or even drinking in Farm rd, or the Cricketers!!

But others I know have talked about it, the needing to be close to the red and white wizards.

I am not playing the bigger Blade card, my eldest brother hasn't been to a game this Century!, and I still class him as a 100% Blade, but the Villa game will be the first time I have EVER seen us on live TV, I have not missed a game since 1984, and Wed will be tough, but better than nothing.

Personally I wouldn't go and stand outside, that's crackers!
But one of my mates reckons he is, just circling the ground listening to the commentary until full time!!

I'll admit to being fascinated by Fan Culture & how different people behave differently & see "their version of support" differently. Honestly, I'm trying to stay "neutral". But one person may say - I don't know why anyone would go down, they can watch it at home. And another may say - I don't know why anyone would watch it at home, they can go down. What I am sure about is - there is no one size fits all approach to Football Fandom.
I will clarify, I am not endorsing people go down. I am saying - I find it intriguing that some fans will/may go down. Obvs I want Utd to win. And, I count myself as a Fan. But, I've got virtually no interest in watching it on TV. And I know that already puts me in a different Fan Category to many others.

Thanks. People asking what's the benefit. I understand that. But, it doesn't always work in that way. When 11 men/women are kicking a bag of wind around with no apparent benefit. I mix with some fans who are obsessive. They do things because they're obsessed with doing them. Not because there's a benefit. I can only be honest. Some people I know would see no benefit whatsoever in watching the game on TV. It just doesn't work for them as supporters in that way. Judge them if you want. But.....

The anti-football "Karen" brigade are already out in force, decrying the restart as stupid/irresponsible etc (while celebrating the reopening of Primark et al, so they can buy cheap, shit clothes). As fans, we need to be responsible and sensible about this. Watch on TV, enjoy being able to watch football again. Do NOT give the morons any ammunition, or any sticks to beat us with.

I just don't see the point. There's nothing open. OK, if I go to the lane there's an off license on the corner so I could drink in the car park and watch it on my phone with some cans.

But really? Why would I? Then get a bus home with a mask on as I'm too pissed to drive.

I live 15 mins walk away from the ground. If there wasn’t a global pandemic then I’d probably go down with a bag of cans and watch it on my phone.

Given current circumstances though I don’t think it’s acceptable and it wouldn’t reflect well on the club.

I get Phil’s point to a certain extent though. Football on the box isn’t the be all and end all for me even though the current arrangement is better than nothing.

I enjoy the wall to wall coverage for World Cups/Euros and will catch other games when they are but never bothered with a Sky Sports subscription. Sitting down and watching 3 games in a row just seem like hard work.

Attending a Blades JPT game would be far more appealing to me than staying in and watching a Champions League game on the same evening. Likewise it winds me up when we can’t get a 6 a side team out because “it’s Man U v Barcelona”.

On away days I’m never arsed about hitting a mediocre boozer just because they have the early kick off on. Doesn’t add much to the day out.

The current arrangement is the best we’ve got and I’ll find a way to watch all our remaining games but football is an active thing for me rather than just mere entertainment.

Never been a fan of the CL. It all seems very contrived and it’s hard to get excited about the same few teams progressing to the latter stages every year.

I’ve always thought it’s a full time occupation properly supporting a football team. Doesn’t leave a lot of room to take more than a passing interest in the rest.

There's a good reason to visit La Nucia stadium, just outside Benidorm tonight for Levante v Seville (Levante playing home games here due to stadium renovation). The La Nucia stadium is small and open, and you can watch the action from many vantage points on the adjacent roads and hills.

Unfortunately the cops have just announced that they are setting up an exclusion zone around the stadium to stop fans (and neutrals like me) doing just that
