Not counting the red button games obviously that’s 5 games and counting we’ve had on Sky this season and we’re yet to win. Swansea lost. Derby lost. Wednesday drew. Rotherham drew. Leeds lost.

Bodes well with 3 left before the turn of the year...

It really is an issue and it's getting very frustrating. I now dread seeing our games being scheduled on sky.

Seems we only get a result when it's a 3pm/7.45pm kick off with no outside attention.

There are some mitigating factors, but they dont fully account for the problem.

Sky games are more likely to be vs the top teams, so naturally you'd expect our results vs those sides to be generally poorer. However in addition to Derby and Leeds we've played Swansea, who are good but not great, and the pigs and rotherham, who are much further down the table.

One explanation I've come up with is that it's simply not about us. We do well when we're 'on it', which we usually are. How well we do, however, rests more on if our opponents are fully up for it as well. The better the team, and the more up for it they are, ie.the more they treat it like a big game, the more difficult it is for us. I think in our regularly scheduled games we take advantage of the slightly less heightened sense of occasion and pressure which surrounds those more ordinary matches.
In contrast, in the games on sky the teams we play are raising their performance ever so slightly, and we don't have the extra quality to overcome that.

I don’t think it is unfortunately

This is largely the same bunch of players who did very well on TV in league 1, including situations such as the SISU debacle, and not too bad last season. Ok we lost a few [Boro, Villa and Brizzle] but we also hammered the Pigs in one of the biggest games possible, followed by a convincing win against Leeds. We also overcame an early horror show to draw at Villa Park.

What's changed this season, other than we have a more experienced spine of players who won't be fazed by a few cameras?

So we just bottle it in big games in general then?

They were last season

That's the point I was making. Same group of players largely.

So what has changed, other than we have more experienced players?

It doesn't make sense.

We didn’t really win any big games after Coutts injury last season when it all unravelled. Leeds at home we did win but they were absolutely woeful, Chesterfield would’ve beat them.

We haven’t won a single game on sky, I’d argue a single ‘big game’ this season.
So ?
We are top 6 on a bottom 6 budget
If you can come up with a way of getting us a top 6 budget you can start to demand top 6 results
