Fucking hell. And we gave the pigs grief over the Dulux 7. Smacks more of Vicarage Road than Anfield. Can't believe this is being so widely lauded when the approved plans for the stand with the steel and glass fronted fascia was slagged off by so many on here. Must just be a Sheffield thing...

Well at least we actually spend some money tidying up our stadium and trying to make it look smart unlike those in S6. We get a firm in to do it rather than beg fans to turn up with a tin of paint.

Also, better than covering the south stand with a cheap bit of tarp.

Some of the comments on here make me laugh.

United tart up a shitty exterior on the stand and get pulled to pieces over it. They’re not claiming it’s a long term fix, just slapping a bit of paint on much as you would do your living room when you can’t yet go the whole hog.

But cos they haven’t ripped it down and spent millions refurbishing or extending we get some people moaning it’s the cheap option.

Those will be the same people who would be the first to be complain when we get relegated due to spending on the ground rather than the team.

It's like never decorating your house because you might win the lottery and buy a mansion at some point.

Yeah, eventually these pillars might be in the foyer of out swish New New South Stand, but at the moment they're not, and they're a bit grotty.

Is it just me who finds the south stand fascia just a bit tacky? What with all the 'We are Premier League' banners attached to every edifice, it comes across all a bit 7/11 corner shop 'Bargains Galore!'...

Always thought it was just me that thought that, it's not a great look. But at least it's not a sheet of tarpaulin

Do you still wipe your worktops down even though you're planning for a new kitchen?

It's actually like getting planning permission for a swanky extension to replace the grotty lean-to and then paying a workman to come round and paint it and tart it up. Which I guess is what you'd do if you were skint and couldn't afford the swanky extension.

Yes but there again, I don't pay tens of thousands of pounds for a packet of kitchen wipes.
It's all relative though, isn't it?

I don't see the issue. Development is not realistically going to start for at least 1 year (and that'd be the most optimistic view), so I don't think it is an issue to spend a bit of money freshening things up in the short term.

I painted my bathroom last year, despite the fact it needs a new shower and floor fitting. But I knew I'd not be able to realistically have these jobs done for a couple of years, due to other financial commitments. In the meantime, I've got a brighter, fresher room.

It's all relative, surely...

If you want £15k kitchen but money is a little tight, you can always get the cupboards sprayed a different colour, get some new knobs and a new lick of paint on the walls for a few hundred quid. It makes it look and feel nicer until you're ready to spend the £15k

Or getting her in to do a 60 min makeover.

Any updates on today’s episode of South Stand Paint Watch?

😂

I went past earlier. Looked no further on. Think the black may just be the start to tarting it up a little. Most guests and press etc will only see this part of ground. I seem to recall a bit being mentioned about initial expressions on guest.

Naturally a new / extension stand stand would do this. But as much as it would look. Now is not the time for a number of reasons.

As others more knowledgeable have already said on the subject, the two pots are completely separate.

^^^ this

My (albeit limited) understanding is that they are entirely different budgets

Can't paint it today - it would run in the rain. Smart move. In Abdullah we trust.

My guess is that given the close season is somewhat truncated, this is a "better than nowt" solution until next close season when there will be more time to do something more substantial
