See your point about being overly familiar with the site of concrete but for me cladding just reminds me of replikit retail park football stadium bowls.

I’m just a big fan of Concrete brutalism and amongst football stadiums I can’t think of another one? Where as Reading have club colour cladding

Also love a bit of brutalism, but more in a 'phwoar look how ugly all that concrete is, cant believe they built that' sort of way...

So as much as I enjoy that the South Stand could be from a soviet bloc stadium, I can see why we might want to dress it up a bit in the 21st century 😂

I've just been looking on another forum and, after a bit of delving, found out that the Kop plans go back to 2008, with the South Stand plans going back to 2009. With little, or no prospect of these plans coming to fruition in the near future I think United should be thinking about starting from scratch.
Although I was in favour of these developments initially, the plans are a bit dated now and there needs to be a rethink. I know we have planning permission for these developments, and that we keep renewing the permission when it runs out, so we have a metaphorical foot in the door so we can start building quickly when the time is right.
However, with new owners in place, they need to review the permissions and see what they can do to upgrade the ground symmetrically, rather than the rather lop-sided outcome we have at the moment.

Yeah, I hate The Blades letters. Looks cheap. I don't even like the font and the Sheffield United lettering below.

Preferred how it was in the 80s myself...the signage not the concrete blocks.

The few suggested on here looked a lot better than how it is now.

If you're going to do The Blades between the pylons, you don't do it in nondescript lower case.

If they'd done it in a square font in upper case it might've been acceptable, like Microgramma.

Fucking hell. And we gave the pigs grief over the Dulux 7. Smacks more of Vicarage Road than Anfield. Can't believe this is being so widely lauded when the approved plans for the stand with the steel and glass fronted fascia was slagged off by so many on here. Must just be a Sheffield thing...

The stand objectively just looks better now, no denying that... The pigs wrap their stand in dust mats and hope they don’t fall over.

That looked like a wank shopping centre from the 90s and if done would have been stuck like that for about 40 years, this is covering some rancid concrete and doesn't preclude any further, better, works.

I see your taste in architecture is no better than your taste in kit design. ;)

I'll put architect on my CV, I painted the hallway last week instead of turning it into a replica of Meadowhall.

So hang on a minute........ We all ask for pinstripes on the home shirts each season but we don’t get them but now we get pinstripes on the bloody South Stand!!!!!!

I can’t get my breath!!!!!

Yeah but now Adidas can stick pinstripes on it next season and say it's inspired by Bramall Lane and do a big video about it.

The away kit will be in mouldy concrete brown with a stain motif and moss green shorts though unfortunately.

Some of the comments on here make me laugh.

United tart up a shitty exterior on the stand and get pulled to pieces over it. They’re not claiming it’s a long term fix, just slapping a bit of paint on much as you would do your living room when you can’t yet go the whole hog.

But cos they haven’t ripped it down and spent millions refurbishing or extending we get some people moaning it’s the cheap option.

Those will be the same people who would be the first to be complain when we get relegated due to spending on the ground rather than the team.
