If it were possible I would be in favour of sticking a large second tier above the existing tier on the John St. The bottom tier holds about 7k, the top tier could hold 5k.

Work could commence at the end of the season, with the demolition of the existing hospitality areas and the erection of a new steel frame. By the time the new season starts the existing seats could potentially still be in use, with only the loss of about 250 hospitality / box seats. Work could continue through the season.

I seem to remember in another thread someone saying that the existing frame couldn't support a second tier of any size - so it would be a big job, but for me would be the most aesthetically pleasing. The JSS is very small by PL standards.

What about Norfolk Park Fields opposite goals? Only reason being, it's a stones throw away from the Lane with main roads nearby and the space is roughly the same size as BL (minus car park). Not too sure how happy the school/residents would be though 😬

Could be a possibility.
I wouldn't be necessarily against a move to a new ground as long as it was in the heart of Sheffield and a bloody good new ground.

Nowt wrong wi developing the Lane imo

The problem for me is around the ground and by that I mean parking

McCabe's plans had an underground carpark which was a good idea. A multistorey somewhere on Bramall Lane would be great but a lot of stuff seems to be getting built around there so it probably wouldn't be worth it price wise for just a carpark.

It’s not the clubs car park that’s the issue. It’s the lack of car parks in the general area

Turn up late and yer fked

The one close to Decathlon has gone. The other one on Sydney St or Sylvester St has gone. The NCP back of BBC radio Sheff halved a few years back. That’s just around the area where I go. Don’t know what it’s like the other side of BL

The council are dumbing down on all car parks. There were plans to add another multi-storey one on the edge of the city centre but that's now bitten the dust in the wake of the ahem 'climate crisis' (yawn!). The anti-car agenda is back on again at the town hall.

Just put a load of electric car chargers in one, it'd be great. Maybe some solar panels on the roof.

Good positive press for the council too.

Cars fossil fuel powered or otherwise, still have to park somewhere.

Or just ones that actually work...

Joking aside, I don’t know what would stop the club using the those temporary turnstiles that they have at the arena, at the Bramall Lane exit. They would need to put some proper segregation and barriers up to allow access, but the current 6 turnstiles at that end of the stand is nowhere near sufficient.
how do i add more likes to this post ?

Staying at the Lane will always be everyone’s preference, but if a move allowed the club to progress then it would need to be seriously considered.

I’ll always favour turning the pitch 90 degrees or buying houses/land to enable a world class stadium to be built at the Lane, but that’s never going to be simple.

Where’s the planning application for the said car park?

I find it interesting that there are quite a few people who would be enthusiastic about the idea of a move to a new stadium. A few years ago I'd have said that pretty much 100 percent of our fan base would have opposed the idea.

While some are better than others I don't like any stadium that is built from scratch. I much prefer stadiums with character like the Lane, even if they aren't totally symmetrical and lack modern comforts. If the club ever moved from Bramall Lane I'd be devastated.

Not that I would ever support a complete rebuild, but if we did decide to rebuild from scratch, we have plenty of land already. No need to leave the present site.

I could see us doing a Spurs in the future if I’m honest, full rebuild on the current site.
I’d go with this. No part of the ground exists in the way that it did when I first went in 1968 so there is nothing to be nostalgic about other than the location. The kop, particularly, is not fit for purpose and various short term & cheap measures over the years have resulted in a bit of an embarrassment of a ground. Needs knocking down & rebuilding.

Unlike Spurs though we don't have anywhere else to play if we rebuilt on the current site.

If we have to rebuild then I would like to develop the currant site .It's central and near the train station which is a plus for away fans and a lot of Blades fans to.Also the bus station to.Without those facilities being near by the parking would be even worse .The way they are talking the training facilities at Shirecliffe seem to be the priority .By the way have the piggies still got their tent?I heard the boy scouts wanted it back.

Reading the West ham thread has reminded me of when the Don Valley stadium was built. There were rumours that we were going to move there. I definitely remember bollocks to Attercliffe chants on the kop. Was this actually a thing or was it just paper talk put about by the council when they realised that they were on the hook for 25 years to pay for this white elephant. It would have probably have been the end of the blades as woolhouse would have disappeared with the money from the sale of the ground while we watch footie in the worst ground in the country.

That’s pretty much what happened to Brighton, apart from the Don Valley bit. Instead, they had to play at Gillingham. 70 miles away on crap roads. It wasn’t the end of them.
