I'm told (I know) we are after 2 keepers fighting it out next season, not just a back up. I'll be surprised if he's not released. Though the reality of finances might dictate otherwise.

His contract is expiring so I think its more likely whether we can table an offer that is good for both of us.

I wouldn't mind him staying as a back up but Its whether he drops his wage expectations to match.

We could loan grbic out again (if no one is willing to buy him) and potentially offering davies 3rd choice with faxon to go on loan? Or grbic 3rd choice if he doesnt move on and release Davies.

Would expect Mee announcement soon, quite clear Wilder has told him hes not in plans whith him not invloved for months (unless I missed that he's injured?).

Ignoring loanees because they won't be here past May, we have the below contracts in place for senior players (info taken from transfermarkt - if anything is incorrect feel free to point it out):

Contract expires summer 2026: A. Davies, Ings, Mee, Riedewald, T. Davies (departing)

2027: Bamford, Brooks, Campbell, Curtis, Grbic, Hamer, Norrington-Davies, Nwachukwu, Rothwell, Seriki, Shackleton

2028: Arblaster, Burrows, Marsh, Matos, McCallum, O'Hare, Peck, Tanganga, Ukaki

2029: Cannon, Chong, McGuinness, Oné, Zatterstrom

I only anticipate Jairo staying beyond the summer. Tom Davies is already confirmed to be off, Ings hasn't contributed enough to be worth a new deal, likewise Mee, and Adam D probably doesn't get a new deal by virtue of us having Grbic become a potential GK option for no additional financial outlay.

Of those with 1 year left, I'd only really want us to try and keep Brooks and Seriki. Bamford and Rothwell will stay only by virtue of having only been here for 5 minutes so far. Hamer is a creative force on his day, but in the games where he doesn't perform, it's like playing with 10 men. All of the rest, I'd happily see us do a bargain deal to get them off the books - there's a lot of wage expenditure in that group, for very little talent in return.

2028 group is much stronger in comparison. I'd imagine Matos gets a chance in pre-season to prove his worth, but probably ends up going out on loan anyway. Ukaki probably the same, unless we can sell and free up the ESC spot. Otherwise, we only sell if the deal is right (ideally).

Of those on terms to 2029, I'd happily see us sell any of them besides Oné.

He's having a pretty decent season - far from the worst keeper in that league. Think there'll be some interest.

I'm marginally happier with him after that Hull match. So many good saves to keep us in it. Maybe he'd just got a bit ring-rusty from lack of game time.

What's the views on what the policy for loan players should be next season?
It seems to me that it's getting harder to find the quality we need and once got in loan players,the competition for the best is hot as PL clubs are reluctant now to let even possible fringe players for their first team go out,for a variety of reasons,plus we are waiting until the end of the window to see if it's possible to get them.
We took on some young players who didn't quite come off,but it looks like this is the way to go,with younger players from the bigger PL teams who have yet to make a mark in their first teams.
Preston NE seem to be really good at picking these types over the last few seasons,I think they had Harrison Armstrong last season and he got recalled and went straight into the Everton team,and he looked decent at Derby before that.
Dan Gore at Rotherham from Man Utd is getting some good reviews both at Rotherham and Man U and is sought after by many EFL/ Championship I'mteams and Dortmund apparently to take on loan,but he is an example on maybe what our policy could be whilst signing more experienced Championship ready players as permanents.

We've not got such a bad squad really , better than the results have been .

As said so many times we definitely need fitter and quicker players , some genuine pace and a target man to hold it up .

I'm less concerned about the defence than the rest of the pitch which is probably contrary to lots of posts through the season.

We cant hold the ball up at the other end , players aren't quick enough to stretch teams or fit enough to get forward into the attack . The defense therefore seam under constant pressure .

It’s the right decision because whilst Davies is clearly a very capable player he’s just not available anywhere near enough.

That said, I liked him and it’s a GLTTL from me
