Kinda meaningless as every team does different things with kit numbers there is no right or wrong number for a position. Some teams, for example Reading, don't have a number 13, for some reason they consider it unlucky. Some teams reserve 13 for goalkeepers and A lot of foreign teams have a number 99. Number 11 is a funny one as some use it as a ST/CF while others use it as LW.

If it WAS important then why is Fleck number 4 or McGoldrick 17? (Suppose Didzy makes sense as a lot of people say he's not a striker... Kinda true from how he plays as a false 9/holding midfielder)

13 is an odd one. I think it comes down to the superstitions of players. Some think it's lucky and others think it unlucky.

I have to admit I wondered about how a player ends up with their number. I assume they are asked if they have a preference or even ones they don't want and other than that the manager assigns them.

Wilder does seem to go with traditional values. Before he arrived, Brayford was wearing No.5 (which irritated me no end) and when Wilder came in, he reverted to No.2, which I can only assume was Wilders decision.

Eyes down ... after Lowe got 13, Bogle 20 and Ampadu 22, lowest numbers left are 14 (Ravel last season) and 24 (Leon last season).

Bogle's is the nearest to 2 and Lowe the nearest to 3, which makes sense as understudies to Furious George and Enda. Ampadu has got Mousset's old number (great to see Lys get 11 by the way).

I hereby predict Burke will get 14 and the mystery new striker will get 24.

Yes I realize that most people don't take much interest in this subject, but to OCD number-obsessives, and there are a few on here, it is important that the number matches the player. And what's more, Chris Wilder – more than any other Premier League manager – agrees.

14 now gone to Burke. Just 24, 27 & 28 left to fill the gaps. Wouldn't be surprised if this new player Coulibaly that we've shipped off on loan has been assigned one of these numbers.
