I think we should look to bring in 4 to 5 players keeping the core, build the squad around the likes of Reed, McGahey, Whiteman, Long
Sign X1 CH mean who can organise would, love to sign Baptise but can't see it. X1 CM, box to box midfielder, energy wanting the ball. X1 Winger with pace doing all the requirements a winger should do. X1 GK to give competition for Long. X1 CF, some strong to do the dirty work, someone like Lee Novak who's getting released from Brummues in summer.
I would like to see something like this:

Brayford McGahey New CH K. Wallace?/ New LB
New RW Reed/ Whiteman New CM Done
Sharp Adams/ Novak
Subs: New GK, Basham, DCL, Reed/ Whiteman, Novak/ Adams, Flynn?, Kelly;

Release:
Sammon(only loan), Edgar?, Hammond?, Flynn?, McEverley, Baxter, J. Wallace, Harris, Cuveilier, Howard, Kennedy, McFadzean; can't think of anymore.
Sell:
Woolford, Scougall, Freeman, McNulty;
Sign:
Baptiste (hopefully), Novak, New CM, Winger, LB, GK;
Not overly sure what the squad will look like but need more characters/leaders in the team.

Ok, so my original post was a prediction of what Adkins will do but it wasn't what I would do.

I would sign Long but bring in a better more experienced keeper as first choice.
I would sign McCeveley but not Edgar or McGahey. Again, I would hope that McEveley would offer decent cover rather than be a first choice.
I would sign Flynn but not Hammond and I would definitely try to offload both Coutts and Woolford.
Up front, I don't think DCL is ready for our first team, so I would be looking to send him out on loan.
I would like to see Diego given a chance before this season finishes, if he doesn't take it then look to offload him and recruit a young striker on loan from the Premier League instead.

I think it's crucial that Adkins decides on a preferred style of play and formation and signs players who will fit in with that.
If we're planning to play 4-4-2, then we suddenly need to sign at least 2 good wide players and 2 box-to-box midfielders.
3-5-2 is looking the best way to go at the moment as it suits more of our current players and those contracted for next season.
In which case, we definitely need a quality left wing back who can both attack and defend and better options in central midfield.
The new centre forward, needs to be a good all-rounder with pace, power and skill. Someone like a young Brian Deane would be nice.

My squad would be:-
Goalies:- New GK, Long (2)
Defence:- Brayford, Basham, New CB, Baptiste, McEveley, K.Wallace, Done, New LWB (8)
Midfield:- New ACMR, New HCM, New ACML, Flynn, Reed, Whiteman (7)
Strikers:- New CF, Sharp, Adams, Diego or New young loan CF (4)

Good post. All I'd say is DDG seems to be doing what he can to blow his chance here. Some managers will indulge talented egotists, Adkins gives every indication he won't. I'm with him on that.

I usually don't say specific new players unless we sign them or are very close to signing them but Il do it this time for a change
Goalkeeper: Long, Ramsdale (academy)
Defence: Brayford, Baptiste, Edgar, mcgahey, Ryan Tafazoli (was interested in him in the pre January loan window) mceverly, Graham Kelly, Done
Midfield: Basham, Hammond, reed, Whiteman, Flynn, George Moncur, Coutts, Woolford, David brooks
Strikers: Adams, DCL, Sharp, Marvin Sordell (a maybe but the type of striker I can see him buying)
Like recently he will use the 3-5-2 and the rest of the squad will be released or sold in summer
Total players 24
