Amongst an excellent all round performance from the Blades, a special mention for the performances of Monty, Quinn and Doyle. Playing in a 4-3-3 with 'all out' strikers like Ched, Boggy and 'Bertie' Vokes meant the midfield had a hell of a lot of work to do. I have especially been one of Doyle's harshest critics since he arrived and we all the know the limitations of Monty, but yesterday all 3 were magnificent in their workrate, movement and distribution.

Keep up the good work boys.

Last couple of home games I've been watching Doyle specifically as prior to that he'd never struck me as having been as bad as some have made out. How he played yesterday to me wasn't much different to how he played against Forest. Positionally he holds the sitting in midfield role pretty well, always available for the out ball and tries to keep it simple when he does get on the ball, more often than not a square five yard pass.

Against Forest he got howled out of it by the crowd on three occasions. Two of them when the ball came out to him from our corner, one I thought he got caught in two minds between ball wide or having a shot and ballooned it up in the air, the other he played it back to the centre half. The third time was when he lost out on a tackle. In comparison the same type of errors from Monty (and there were alot more on the passing side) were ignored by the fans. Yesterday Doyle got clattered at one point in the first half with the ref giving us a free kick for the challange, yet the bloke sat next to me still resorted to "f***ing hell Doyle, get him off Adams". To me some fans are being overly crtical, possibly they're the same ones that want Adams out and as he's an Adams' signing then he's fair game.

I thought Doyle gave a 6/10 performance against Forest and the same against Leeds yesterday. I'm not particularly a big fan of that kind of midfield player, he reminds a bit too much of Paul Thirlwell, but I do think he's been getting unfair stick over the last few weeks.

I thought midfield had a decent game, with Monty and Quinny playing well.

What i do notice is how rarely Monty is mentioned when is playing well, but as soon as he has a poor game every man and his dog lace in to him.

That late run Monty made towards the end of the game was magic ......

He went off injured well before the end...

But his run and cross which led to Boggy's clean-through chance in the first was great stuff. If only we could get Yeates to play with that sort of drive and purpose.
