From a financial side, I was told that we’d agreed a price with Leicester sometime ago- they then moved the goalposts and asked for more upfront. I would hazard a guess that much of the noise coming from Leicester and Russell Martin about him being made captain, how it will take massive bids to prise him away etc have been an effort to try and increase how much we pay.
He’s wanted the move all summer as have United and it was always going to get done, was just a matter of time.
