It doesn’t even feel like we’re gambling to be honest, I’d be shocked if he manages to stay injury free for any significant period of time.

He made 38 league appearances in 20/21 for Stoke and since then he’s made a grand total of 61 league appearances in 5 seasons! The most in one season was the 21 with us!

He's had 2 separate injuries which both kept him out for over a year.

In 2022/23 and 2023/24 he was fit and available, Leicester just weren't playing him

As I remember it Souttar rag dolled him pretty much the whole time smith was on the pitch while Vini Souza had them bouncing off him while wandering around absolutely pissing himself but it’s not like them to re-write history is it

The younger, fitter, cheaper option might not grow and develop. He might also get injured. Every transfer is a gamble as nothing is guaranteed.

That's true. Although with Souttar you are guaranteed a good player. It's all a balancing act and as with many things, you need luck.
