Word in our corner of the Kop is that within football circles it's accepted knowledge that Southgate is already lined up. Word came to us from within one of the Clubs we've played recently.

Not sure I believe it - big money manager and all that, but might meet KMc hopes for a "trophy manager" (to quote Neil Warnock!) - a la Robson

One of my few regrets in life is that when the odds started dropping quickly on Robson as the next manager I did not do all I possibly could have done (ok - short of self emollition) to influence the board in some way. I just sent a letter saying I'd rather us appoint anyone else including Jimmy Sirrels ghost. Is it true anyone that during the fateful weekend before Robson got the nod there was some hesitation and second thoughts as a result of the 'feedback' from supporters????
