Something really important to me on what we need to focus on this season

Is having a consistent lineup.

When was the last time we didn’t even have to look at the teamsheet before kick off because we knew exactly what the team will be? Maybe 2018?

This season every single game was a prediction on who would start, who will be on the bench, it all just felt a bit messy with no consistency. Obviously you can’t help injuries and suspensions but still.

I just want to see a consistent lineup next season where the same 11-13 players can link up well and get used to how each other play.

Don’t know if some of you agree but that’s my view.

Pretty sure that teams would utilise that fact and easily set up against us. What’s the benefit is in having the same lineup every game?

Everyone has their own opinion mate but look at the team in 2018, we played the same 11-13 players every game, the same backline and midfield 3, and rotated between 4 strikers Sharp, and Didzy as the main 2 with occasionally McBurnie/Mousset coming in. It worked as everyone knew exactly how everyone played, the runs each player makes, the chemistry was unreal because they kept playing and playing

Only 6 players in 2019-19 started more than 40 games

Hendo
Enda
Fleck
Egan
Norwood
JoC

Only 2 more started 35 or more

Didzy
Bash

Mousset didn`t join us until 2019...

now assuming you meant the PL season, only 7 players started more than 30 games

Starman
Enda
Bash
Norwood
Hendo
Egan
JoC

A very settled back 6 - far less consistency elsewhere

That's not entirely true.
I think you mean 2019/20 season?

Just 7 players STARTED 30+ games
  • Baldock (38)
  • Basham (38)
  • Stevens (38)
  • Norwood (37)
  • Egan (36)
  • Henderson (36) - would have been ever present but wasn't allowed to play vs. Man Utd
Sharp only started 10 and Mousset 11 games. Berge signed in January and started more than both.
McBurnie and McGoldrick started the most games upfront, but still only 46 between them.

One of the key things in modern football is having strength in depth which prevents player burnout and allows squad rotation.
This was key for Leeds and Burnley last season having the strongest squads to enable them to turn games on their heads late on.
