He took a team looking like the most expensive relegation fodder in history to the brink of the play offs in three months. In spite of then being stripped of many of his good players througout the next season he got them to the play off final. I didn't care for his style or lack thereof, but lets compare records so far and he is streets ahead of Puddleduck.
But that doesn't tally up with the general viewpoint that Blackwell was the devil incarnate. He did a decent job in difficult circumstances and towards the ends both hands were tied behind his back. The other night someone on football heaven made a pertinent point that if we hadn't sacked Blackwell then maybe we might not be in the trouble we are now, and i was inclined to agree.
I spent years of thinking Warnock was a busted flush, and wanted him out, but 4 years down the track i think he would have taken us up in 2007/08, and sacking him was a mistake. Hindsight is a great thing, but i learned that sacking the manager does not necessarily mean that utopia is around the corner.
I want Micky Adams to given a decent chance to show what he can do, or what he can't do as the case may be, but if we sacked him now, or in the close season then it will mean another new manager coming in to the club, and the lack of continuity would potentially be more damaging than keeping him in the job.
