from the mail online:

Former Blades boss approached by City
According to newspaper reports Coventry City have asked Kevin Blackwell to take charge of the club until the end of the season.
The Mail Online reported that Blackwell has been chosen ahead of former Newcastle manager Chris Hughton because he has more experience of managing a club on a tight budget.
Blackwell left Sheffield United in August 2010 by mutual consent after making a poor start to the season. He had previously led the Blades to a promotion play off final place in 2008-09, but lost to Burnley.
Blackwell has also managed Leeds United and Luton Town

Lolololol

lolol.

My Coventry-supporting pal is going to shit a brick.

Lol.

Why is that good news? Are you forgetting the cracking start he made with us? As far as i'm concerned that's a good short term signing for Cov. Long term probably not...

Agree with Highbury he will get them out the shit, however bbc is reporting Parkin is taking charge.

Excellent appointment for Cov, I expect Blackwell to get them organised and put a few results together. Bad news for us IMO.

Can't see why it's bad news, people seem to forget he got us out of a muddle pretty bloody quickly

To be fair though, Bryan Robson had assembled probably the best squad in the division.

Not that I think Blackie's a bad appointment for them. I think he'll do the necessary and keep them safe.

I'm prepared to stay up all night waiting for you to persuade me it isn't.

I clicked on this hoping for a 50pt deduction for QPR.

Blackwell will help keep Coventry up. But they said they got rid of Boothroyd because of his unattractive style. How we larfed...

he will get them playing solid.
Its always been us against Palace & maybe Derby.
I dont see that changing.

Yep great news. Thats Cov out the shit quickly then.

The first team that Hoofy picked for a home league game was:
Kenny
Geary
Killa
Morgan
Armstrong
Cotts
Speed
Tonge
Quinn(S)
Beattie(J)
Sharp
Subs: Hulse, Stead, Gillespie, Ehiogu and Carney.

Some would say it is hardly the work of genius to get that side winning. The key was simply getting them FIT, something that Robson had failed to do from day one.

Yes what a shithead manager Blackwell is. Got us into the playoff spots on last day of what looked like a robson induced relegation battle. gets us to play off final and his worst finish was what? 9th? One of the best records by a UNited manager, but yeah great news for us that Coventry have got him!!!!??????

Again, look at the squad he had and tell me he should not be expected to get said finishes.

Had he continued with his tactics of going for teams, that he started with in his first half season, I believe we would have been in the top 2 of the league that we finished 3rd and in the play offs.

Wow, how can anyone make a comparison between blackwell and adams?

what has blackwell actually achieved as a manager?

simply compare the teams they inherited.

aidy boothroyd got a failing team (watford) into the premier league, and he could do sod all with coventry. he has achieved more than blackwell in his career, so why is blackwell an improvement?

final point. Just look at this thread from coventry fans, and this will allow you to know what the world of football think of Kevin Blackwell....

"This would be a shocking appointment, not only is this guy a shit manager but he is also an arrogant northern w@nker of the highest order."

??? Is this the same Kevin Blackwell?

Good luck Kev. Wish you all the best at Coventry as long as it is not at the expense of the Blades.

I still feel ashamed at the way he was treated after giving the job his all and almost getting us promoted twice.

Which 2 seasons were these? I understand the play off final.

I think DKC is refering to the season when he took over and nearly got in the playoffs, had we done we probably would have been favourites on form.

I thought that might be so, so I don't understand why he didn't mention a 3rd season, where we finished higher in the table than that term.

He took a team looking like the most expensive relegation fodder in history to the brink of the play offs in three months. In spite of then being stripped of many of his good players througout the next season he got them to the play off final. I didn't care for his style or lack thereof, but lets compare records so far and he is streets ahead of Puddleduck.
