While it is every posters right to come on the forum and say what they want when they want. Some posters seem to just come on and post only after a game and give nothing in between. Some with an attitude as if they have a greater impartiality because they have not posted in between making out that they see the game from a more neutral perspective. If your a Fan of our great club , then by association you cannot be impartial. Don't try to make out through your lack of posts between that you see the game from a higher plane from the rest of us.

I think Deadbat's reports are pretty accurate IMO.

If you are going to come on and criticise, at least have the balls to say who it is aimed at. You're veiled dig is just simply pathetic.

If it is about Deadbat, then I think it is completely out of order. He takes time out to write detailed reports for the benefit of others. They are a source of information and are there to stimulate debate and discussion. His opinion might be different to yours, but this is a forum. He certainly does not come across as arrogant and self righteous to me. He might be cynical or overly harsh on occassions, but everything is justified and explained. He even takes time to respond to criticisms and challenges. On top of all this, I find DB's reports spot on. He reads the game very well and I rarely disagree with the way he see's things.

Deadbat is a star of the forum and in my humble opinion has a pretty good eye for what is happening on the pitch. His reports must take ages to write and he tries to do it in as an objective way as possible.

I didnt read this thread as having a go at him in particular though.

I'm always appreciative of Deadbat's reports.

Can't see how anyone wouldn't think this was a thread aimed at him/her(?)

My reports

Unsure how this has become a threat about my reports!!!

However, I would be very disappointed if I posted a report and everyone ust patted me on back and said good report./ I hope it stimulates discussion and opinion. Of course everyone sees games different. I had a massive row with my Uncle on Saturday after the chance for Oldham when Simonsen bowled it out and Francois madfe the mistake over whose fault it actually was and we sit next to each other and are family. Thats football and I like nothing bnetter than a good argument or discussion about games/players!

The people that annoy me a bit who just say 'rubbish report' or 'this is no way impartial' but do not put why. Maybe at tiems it seems like I do favour certian players and sometimes marks might relfect this but I honestly can say I do try to give everyone a blank sheet from start of every game.

I do accept I am overly critical and pessmistic in nature. that is years of being a Blade I think!!! I wish I could be more positive and optimisitic but difficult after years if hurt.

You got worse over the Blackwell years. :)

grumble

You got worse over the Blackwell years. :)

I think the Blackwell years sapped a lot out of us but for the most part we were winning. I have enjoyed this year (may not seem it from my reports) regardless of results as we have at least played football but still feel it is a dire division.

I knew i was getting bad when my Uncle said I was worse than my Dad and he was one of the most pessmistic fans I have ever seen. You know the type you are 2-0 upand he would say: '2-0, is a dangerous score.'

I always used to say 'Surely 1-0 is more dangerous!'

Heiis not with us anymore but I can only imagine how he might have reacted on Saturday evening. Indeed I could hear him from above after the Wigan/Burnley games in recent years. 'Typical United. They'll always let you down son!' Of course he would have kept going every week even after.

So at least you know where I have got it from!

Deadbat, I just wonder why you bother. It seems like a lot of work to me.

Those that haven't been to the game can read the detailed minute-by-minute text report on the BBC website if they wish; or they can read the official SUFC version (which usually is reasponably honest).

I tend to skip your summary at the beginning and just read the points-out-of-ten that you have given.

Then sometimes I read the later posts that disagree with your valuations.

It's all about opinions - as someone said.

I enjoy Deadbats reports and read them after I have been to the game. I dont always agree with his player ratings and opinions but thats football isnt it, its all about opinions.

Keep it up, great work.

A bit harsh. What people (exiles) are interested in is a genuine, detailed opinion of the game and how we played. The BBC ticker just gives bone dry facts which mean next to nothing.

If I miss a game I read Deadbat's reports.

I read the introductions, skip the match description, then read deadbats comments and player ratings.

I read most of it but then I do read quickly. I might skip some of the match description and go to the ratings but the forum is better for those reports being here. You don't have to agree with them but if you don't, at least articulate why.

Freedom of speech. You have the right to your opinion and whoever it is your having a pop at has the right to theirs. People post when and how they want. Do you want minimum post policing next? How would Brownie be able to go on a sabbatical with people telling him he has to post so many times a week?

A forum with rules, oooooh I don't think I could wait for that.

That's one of the strangest posts I've ever seen on here. It can only be your guess as to why anybody might post or not and I can't see that it matters at all anyway.

As Olle says, to avoid the speculation (and the thread has gone way off topic already), name some names.

>by association you cannot be impartial
hmm.. i'd agree to a certain extent.. and .. you've all jumped to conclusions about who he is on about

i could think of a few on here who seem to think they're on a higher plane than everyone else.. Deadbat certainly isn't one of those.. ymmv
i'm somewhere in the middle of the kop.. so i don't reckon it's me :D plus i post crap all of the time sooo..

I think the title was 'some posters'. Therefore if you wish to make your own assumtions that is fine and to agree or disagree is fine also. If the OP writer wants to name the posters it was aimed at that is also up to him. with regard to taking time to answer other posters, well i think he missed quite a few at the weekend.

I don't agree with a lot of your reports. No correction I do agree with parts of your reports but I have stopped reading them because I don't agree with your marking system. I think however that your reports are good for those who cannot attend and those Blades in other parts of the world and the replies of those who dont agree with you may give it some balance or even if most agree then it could be taken then that your report was acurate.
As for the part about stimulating debate. Then I'm sure you'll agree the OP has certainly done that if aimed at you amounst others. + your posting on a Monday.

I think people have jumped to the conclusion that it's deadbat he's referring to because:

a) Deadbat usually reports after the match and doesn't say much in between (and why the fuck should he?) and
b) He's also left a snidy reply in the match report thread

As it goes, I like DB's reports (same as enjoy reading several different ones in the papers when we're high enough in the league to merit them) and don't much care for posts that simply berate other posters for expressing a different view!

Whether he is or isn't referring to Deadbat in this instance, the challenge I throw down to his critics is to do a better one, then pick holes.

You mean like this one above;)
