1 - "It's only two matches" (Formerly "Its only one match")

Except we've been gash since November and many of the things that were wrong at the end of last season are still wrong now.

2 - "Losing Coutts was a big blow"

Indeed, but that was nine months ago now. If we can't sort this in nine months questions really have to be asked.

3 - "Swansea and Middlesbrough are good teams"

So they are, but we beat Boro last season. And if we can't cope with good teams we will find ourselves playing less good teams in the division below.

4 - "Everyones an expert in hindsight"

There were loads of posts before kick off last night wondering how the fuck Lundstram, Evans, and Fleck were the midfield again. All those people were proved right.

5 - "We have no cash"

Some truth here, but when we do spend big its on Egan. Still, early days...

In Wilder we all trust?

Yes, for now, but this has been building since November. I want to see some sign that the problems are recognised and solutions are being developed. I do not want to see Lundstram and Evans on the team sheet together for successive matches again.

Surprised by an economist ignoring the stats since November. It was mid table form in the second half of last season.

I dont want to see Evans on the team sheet ever again.

Yes.

The character of his players not so much.

In sport having a 'great bunch of lads' only gets you so far. You need a blend of great lads but also some 'orrible cunts.

Just this week we've seen England's cricket team win a game courtesy of a chap who mocked two gay guys then battered two random guys in the street....

We don't have that 'competitive tension' in the squad at the mo, and it shows.

One of the myths you claim as a fact....

We HAVE NOT been gash since November. Mid table form and dominated sides like Preston, Villa, Bolton etc at home, but lacked the cutting edge and conceded to rare chances gifted the opposition.

I don't even think it's a great bunch of lads anymore. It's a bunch of wastrels who peaked quickly last season and now only think they have to show up and the magic will happen.

Losing Coutts is not a myth, the lad single handedly dictated games and is a massive influence amongst the squad.

Myth- United never replaced Coutts.
He’s irreplaceable for United...we can not afford to buy a player of his quality. So saying we’ve failed to replace him is bollocks, because it’s impossible to replace him.
Myth- We’ve been shit since November!
More bollocks, we dominated lots of sides and failed to capitalise on chances before conceding to the few we offered.

Facts are these. We often failed to defend well for 90 mins. We had players prone to bad errors that often cost us games. This was offset by our attacking play, but the likes of Duffy though brilliant at what he does, doesn’t score many.
This season we are playing it longer, whybthat is I don’t know. We seem to have decided to avoid playing tjrough the thirds and opted to get it forward quicker. Whether that’s because the midfield 3 aren’t good enough I don’t know.

Well they’re not myths are they?
Most, if not all appear to be demonstrable facts.

Your opinions however, now there’s another story.

Fact: The result of a game is determined at the end of the match.

2 and 3 are myths and yet you agree with them o_O

Including losing to Fulham at home we then collected 33 points from 29 games which if repeated would be 52 points over a season.

Usually that's enough to stay up but far from mid table and a relegation dog fight so I expect no different when not much has changed except all are a year older.

"Swansea and Middlesbrough are good teams"

Swansea certainly had more quality than us on the day and it won them the game. Some of their play was excellent and it wasn't a particularly difficult result to swallow.

Boro however were nothing special whatsoever which made last nights' performance even more unacceptable. Some great players yes, but I saw nothing which made me think a half-decent team who were up for it and well-drilled would give them a game. Our heads dropped after the second goal went in and we made a very average-looking side look like Barca.

That’s Pulis though, ugly but successful football.

Wilder cannot recreate the euphoria of 12 months ago, and he cannot make United an underestimated, unknown quantity once again. Opponents wise up, so to play the same way the club needs better players playing it. As he said last night, that's not down to him.

In Carlos' first season Wednesday played some really good stuff, and meted out a few spankings too, but in his second season things were different. I remember the derby against Leeds, for example. Monk picked the biggest midfield ever seen on a football pitch, and doubled up down the flanks. From that game on the football of his first season was always going to be a thing of the past, and so it proved.

Yes
Coutts was easily replaceable, it would have just cost a couple of million from another Championship club. We wasted a couple of million on League One players instead.
Always the same attitude, why spend good money on one player when you could get four instead

It works on the same basis that every housewife has tried at the supermarket at some stage, why buy Heinz baked beans when I can get a fourpack of Aldi's own brand.

Thankfully most housewives are intelligent enough to realise the mistake they made and don't repeat it every week

What have you been smoking?
Couple of million??
Moron.

There was no player in the championship attainable, Cairney springs to mind, would have needed 15m to get him.
Then again, you probably think he wouldn’t get in the pigs side too.

"Coutts was easily replaceable,"

The names should roll readily off your tongue then. We're waiting.....

Aye orreight
We'd have seen how much he's been worth if he'd stayed fit

The position we were in coming up to the transfer window, we could have easily replaced him
