The first time we have scored three away goals in the top flight since 1993. The last time we scored three away was at QPR in April 2022.
First time we've won away in the top flight in front of supporters since Crystal Palace in January 2020.
A great away day, UTB!

Neutral fan might be confused.

Records we now won’t break:

Fewest PL points (11, Derby)
Fewest PL goals (20, us and Derby)
Fewest PL away goals (7, Norwich)
Fewest PL away wins (0, a few teams)
Most PL away defeats (17, Burnley)
Fewest PL away points (4, Burnley)

And yet again you get a chance to marvel at just how bad Derby County were.

Derby must’ve been incredibly shit that year.

In October 1993 Take That got to number one. After today's three away goals hopefully we will Relight Our Fire!

in 2020 21, we need to get 11 more points to beat that from 14 games

We're still in with a chance of most goals conceded though 🤔

-38 goal difference. 24 matches.

-23 of those goals came in 4 games. Burnley (5), Newcastle (8), Arsenal (5) Villa (5).

The other 20 matches showed only a negative goal difference of -15.

Keep it tight at the back.

That team is truly remarkable.

I'm absolutely fascinated by it. I would read a book on it, sincerely.

I'm convinced that is one of the great, unbreakable records in all of sports. I'd honestly put it up there with Bradman's 99.94 Test average as something that will never be surpassed, such is the level of difficulty to "achieve" it.

When you look at some of their players that season it’s a proper shit squad.

High numbers of appearances by McEveley and Davis as well as Dar…..erm Moore.

What's the most different penalty takers we've had in one season to all score?
Three so far this season, but in 89/90 Bryson, Duffield, Gannon and Agana(cup) all scored a pen, any higher than that?

1997-8 had 5:

Fjortoft
Deane
Stuart
Borbokis
Hutchison (cup only)

Not obvious from the records as Deane (Oxford away) and Borbokis (QPR home) both missed their only ones.

So would I. Terrible seasons are fascinating.

I would never buy a book about Wednesday but someone has written one about their awful mid 1970s dark ages which are interesting in a similar way, especially the disastrous 1974-5 season.

I said at the time in 2020-21: we had 6 players whose form completely collapsed, we had terrible injuries in the second half of the season, we scored only 20 goals and most weeks never looked like scoring, we signed some awful players, we lost 29 games…and yet we won 7 times and got 23 points. How the hell did Derby do it?

In fact now I think on it was 7

Saunders missed at Ipswich in the cup, scoring the rebound.

Whitehouse missed v Wrexham in the league cup.

So 7 takers but only 3 scored. Hutchison, Fjortoft and Stuart who both missed and scored.

Seasons with 4 scoring pens:

1979-80: Benjamin, Matthews, Bourne, Kenworthy
2003-4: Brown, Ndlovu, Lester, Gray
