Just seen we have pay on the gate tonight as well, i cant actually remember the last time that happened!

Fuck me. I've been in New Zealand so long now that I wouldn't be certain that I could get into a game.
Flash back--- Turn up early and after a few pints, get in line and hope the turnstiles are well oiled and quick to operate. One or two dads looked to have fat bellies but on closer inspection, it was a kid under the coat and a tanner to the guy behind the mesh. Anyway it is good to have a Spur or twoon here in friendship.
When I had to be in London, the Arse and Spurs supporters tried to convert me. Once a Blade. Always a Blade. Stamped right the way through me like Blackpool rock but I did enjoy White Hart Lane and was surprised at how small Highbury was.

Went to Highbury a few times, can't recall ever seeing us win there. It was closed in and tight compared to many grounds and was small compared to their new place. The away supporters were always in the corner (stood back then of course) of the clock end. There never seemed to be much room in there.

Doh!

The only one I can remember was in 1971, just after promotion, when we were....top of the old Div 1 for a few weeks and we won there 1-0.
I was in Ayr Butlins holiday camp that week. My dad promised me that we would leave the dance hall in time to go to the tv room to see the football results on the news. When we arrived at the tv room we had just missed seeing the football results in the news. I thought to myself "oh no, we will have to wait till we read the papers in the morning", my dad then asked a few in the tv room if they had seen the results before telling me to be quiet till we got out of the room. as soon as we got out of the room he then told me that we had won 1-0! I yelled with joy (which was why my dad told me to be quiet till we got out of the room!). It was a surreal feeling that we had beaten the double winners just after beating the mighty L**ds (1969 league winners) and Everton (1970 league winners). My first visit to Highbury was in the 0-0 draw in the League Cup two months later (we won the replay by 2-0)
