Social Media Ruining Fan Relations / Football

I've been meaning to write this for a long time now and it's starting to really gripe on me.

Over the past few weeks a lot of the so-called Blades YouTube and Twitter channels (not all but a certain few which I won't name), seem to be consistently trying to antagonise fans with their posts and their content. Personally, I think they should be doing everything to bring fans together, one for the club and also we are in a pandemic where people are at home isolated, the last thing people need is to be arguing on social media or winding our own fans up.

It's quite clear all they care about is ratings and how many people like the posts, which again is not what football is about it's just self-gain and in monetary terms also in regards to YouTube. We aren't the only club that does this no way, it's a wider problem that has become more apparent in the pandemic.

A lot of viewpoints that are been put out are personal opinions rather than objective facts... again to create more views for their content.

It really frustrated me we are meant to be Sheffield United... UNITED... TOGETHER through whatever happens at the club, not let's cause debate and controversy so I can get more YouTube views.

Ever sat in a boozer in Sheffield and overheard two or three blokes (or ladies, of course) chatting bollocks on the next table about United and thought, "For fuck's sake. Shut the fuck up, eh?" Whatever they might be saying might be factually correct, or it might be objective bollocks, but whatever it is, it grates against your own opinions.

Well, that.

You can either endure it and zone it out, or move to another table with your crisps and beer. Or you can join in and integrate your point of view with theirs, see if you can change their minds. What you can't do is shut them up permanently, call them so-called Blades or say one of theirs wife's minge stinks, simply because what they have to say about a football club disagrees with your opinion.

I take it you are lamenting the gathered masses aren't all out on the streets burning cop vans and throwing shit at beleaguered law-enforcers because Wilder has left. In fact - dare they whisper it - some are glad to see the back of him. Put your own YT or Twitter feed up and see how many people agree with you. You might be disappointed.

Wilder was great for us, but this season he wasn't. Like the effectiveness of the Desso, you can't run away from the results.
