Having a fully fit and cohesive unit certainly helped with keeping cleans sheets. We saw what happened when Collins was pulled out of the first team. Left back has been a weak link and perhaps we do miss Lecs. We obviously had some disruptions to the defence and this cost us. But even since Brentford away we've had pretty much the same defence and they have conceded a fair amount of goals. I see it partly down to the way we have been playing. Lately we've been really attack minded and played a fast paced, offensive game. As a result we've scored a lot, but also conceded. We did this earlier in the season, when we had Philips (and Clarke). Perhaps we have lost our discipline a little when we've been smashing teams or bombing forward. Individual mistakes seemed to have creeped back in a little too. Earlier in the season (other than when we had the Blackpool loanees) we did not give away any soft goals, there were few individual errors and we seemed more of a drilled defensive unit. I think we should go back to basics and aim to get this back. Rather than simply gunning to outscore teams (ok with Evans on fire) I think we just need to keep a few clean sheets and we'll get chances to nick goals.
