Exactly. After three years of spectacular progress, it could be that we'd be going up too soon - the foundations aren't in place. As others have said, we've got an ageing squad and a Titanic ownership battle to come as nobody knows what the club will be worth by the end of the season. So, if we did go up, we've got to rebuild the squad and sort out the ownership issues - all in less than 18 weeks (less than 10 in we go up via the PO Final) until the PL kicks off on 10th August.

While it will be a pisser, another season in the Champ. won't be the end of the world. We've seen that 'parachutes' don't necessarily make a team 'certs' to go straight back up (West Brom are largely where they are thanks to refs, cheating and incredible luck). Fulham are fucked and Huddersfield will be losing all their better players.

The worst that can happen is that we will be playing Championship football again.
I know we want to play at the top and see Manure Liverpool and the like at the Lane but the Championship is still one of the best leagues in Europe without doubt and although we will be disappointed should we fall short, we can still look at having another go at promotion in a league that quite frankly for excitement and unpredictable results blinds the Premier League.
Who would have bet that Norwich, Leeds and ourselves would be fighting it out for the top 2 places?
Who at the start of the season had W Brom, Stoke, Villa and Boro to be the top dogs?

The Prem is owned by the top 6/7 clubs EVERY season so the only thing to hope for is the odd good result against the top dogs with the hope of clinging on for the next season. Excitement at a minimum compared to the Championship coupled with the real possibility of financial problems.

But do you realise that the gap is widening between Prem and Championship? The gulf is enormous and getting bigger. It’s about money and ultimately SURVIVAL.

You probably think there’s no rush and we can take our time and get to the Prem later? Do you think another season, like this one, is going to come along soon with us 2 points off autos with 7 games left? You must have amazing faith if you do!

Promotion to the Prem is critical. Even if we only last one season. And this is the very best chance we’ve had since 2005!

In reply to the OP, Sheffield United Football Club need to start grasping opportunities with both hands when they come along. In the last 25 years or so, it's very rare we have done, and it's cost us as a club, think numerous play-off finals and semi-finals, FA cup and LC semi finals. If we take some of those opportunities it enhances the stature of the club and moves us forwards, as it is we've haven't and has left us as something of a footballing backwater. We need to make sure we take this chance now it's here and I reckon we have a manager who thinks the exact same.

Well I would imagine O ConnelI would be sold for say, 8 million,possibly a bit more, part of this money would be used to cover operating losses and the balance to bring in a number of new signings and loan signings
We then go again, I enjoy the Championship some great games, big teams and decent quality football

If we went up I would get the kop rebuilt as a legacy using some of the PL money
