It seems to be an unwritten rule that irrespective of how well United are doing or how badly Scunthorpe are playing, we will always play terribly at Scunthorpe.

We have knocked the Shrewsbury jinx on the head, and we aren't going to get a better chance to lay this one to rest as well.

Incidentally, stats fans, United's recent draw at Colchester extended our run of no away wins against them in league games, which now stands at 5 matches.

Trivia question time: which clubs currently have the longest unbeaten record in league games against United (a) at home and (b) at the Lane?

Yeah Scunny are yet to get a point this season, law of averages says they will win one soon. Can we for once NOT be the fall guys Blades ?

Stands to reason that we will lose this game 3-2.

Off the top of my head - away - Arsenal 9 and we have never won at Bristol Rovers in (I think) 8 or 9 tries.

The home one must be Gillingham - no wins in the last 5 attempts.

Yes: Gillingham are the home side. No wins over them in 5 games at the Lane, the last 4 of which were draws.

The away team is Bristol Rovers - United have never won there (having played at Eastville and Twerton Park) in 11 attempts.

There is one other team in double figures. United have not won at Villa since 1966, and have gone 10 games without a win there. Arsenal is 9 without a win in the league.

For the clickless - has he been sacked?
Edit

Or was it the squirrel...

No, if you can't see the link you probably won't believe this ! Knill has fallen off his bike after running into a squirrel.

Truly, you could not make this up :)

If we include "proper" cup games (i.e. FA Cup and League Cup only), do Arsenal then take the record?. Since winning there in August 1971, we have also played 6 or 7 (depending if you include the first game in 1999) cup games there without winning - making a total of 15 or 16 games since we last won there.

Villa has to be one of our worst defeat ratios 62 defeats in 129 games

The squirrel is what we now use to take out opponents managers.

The "head to head" book says that out of all of the teams we have played more than a handful of times, our record against Villa is the worst.

We have played and lost 1 cup game at Villa Park since we last won a league game, and we haven't played Bristol Rovers in the Cup that I can recall, so our Arsenall drought is presumably the worst.

For the first time in a long time i'm a lot more confident simply because of our attacking options.
DW's done a great job in my opinion with a mixture of old and new.

I bet I've got a worse away record than United in general. Hardly ever seen us win away so you'll all be glad to know that I'm going ?!?!?

Rather belatedly, it has just occured to me that Cardiff have equalled Gillingham's record: they are unbeaten in their last 5 visits to the Lane, 3 draws and 2 wins.

Glad to get that off my chest....

We've played them 5 times since we beat them 5-3??? Jesus the seasons are starting to merge into one....

(I appreciate we have been promoted and relegated, twice, since the 5-3, but it just doesn't seem that long ago)
