So the manager has given up on us........

Coming out and hammering your players in public never ends well for the manager. Yes, they deserved an almighty hairdryer on Friday, but what he came out and said seemed a little OTT for me.

I hope Wilder has judged this right, but he'll be in a minority if he has...

Roll on Tuesday!!
Tend to agree - he could have said he was very unhappy with the performance and we've had a discussion about it in the dressing room. That's all that needed to be said without the public dressing down IMO.

Especially the ones who played such an important part in getting us to where we are, only to find themselves chucked on the shitheap like Jake Wright and to a lesser extent Mark Duffy.

Pinchy kept telling me how much better Stearman is than the former . Mmmmm, when are we going to see the evidence of that, please ?

Only the last 2 or so months, consistently.

How many of the current team would still be here and expect to play in August if we got promoted to the Prem this season, just one Brooks.

So do the players have the motivation to get promoted to a place where they know they wont play, because they will be deemed not good enough.

Do you reckon Francis, Arter, Cook etc all thought the same when Bournemouth got there?

His interview in the Star is worrying. He says he's not bothered if we see a reaction from the players on Tuesday night. Have a look at it, something's not quite right. Immediately after the match is one thing but in the cold light of the day is another !

For anyone who went. Did the players come over and clap the fans? Did Wilder? How did the crowd react?

I left the minute the whistle went so not sure if they came over. The crowd were pretty pissed off by the end and most folk just left quietly with private grumbling conversations.

If you seriously believe that Stearman has consistently proved himself to be better than Jake Wright over the last two months, then I may have to reconsider my opinion in respect of your knowledge of the game, and in particular, the art of defending.

Having said that, for me he went a little too far.
Why? The players have benefited from plenty of support from him this and last season.
It’s a management tactic, no more than that, designed to get a reaction from a collection of solid pros who’ve fallen short of expectations recently.
I don’t think there’s much chance of his interview causing problems with the current dressing room.
The vast majority of the squad owe Wilder massively and I have little doubt they know that.
One thing we know we have is the players with the right character, and they’ll want to put this right.

Yes, I thought that a bit. After all they've achieved this last 18 months under Wilder his comment that the motivation shouldn't always have to come from him is bang on. I wonder if he's just seen something that has really bothered/shocked him, maybe not in terms of performance or confidence but maybe in the attitudes and character of some players?

He has known most of the players enough to know what they are like and Blackman posted on his social media there was still everything to play for.

I would hope his comments are just a bit of a kick up the arse to the players.

Personally I think if he is genuinely trying to use some kind of reverse psychology, hes gone way over the top. It was an abysmal performance, but was on the back of two big wins. We are well in it mathematically so to say its all over is daft. Especially when we have won 2/3.

What will our players reaction be to that for the Reading game?
Will it be "Well if he thinks it's over , then why bother".
Or will it be "we'll fucking show him" and put the effort in to reach the play-offs?

Monday morning training will be very interesting. Will it be a frosty atmosphere or what?
Laughs at a premium i would imagine. Interesting few days ahead.

It’ll be frosty alright. It’s freezing in Sherclif this morning...

As for Wilder’s comments; I was on his side Friday night with his scathing ‘attack’ on the team and performance. However, since then I think he’s gone a bit OTT. Friday night in the immediate aftermath he’s hurting. He’s been let down and said as such. But more has come out since and unless those comments were made Friday night as well (as part of a longer interview I’ve not seen or heard), then I think he needs to pack it in before he does seriously upset people. “I’m not bothered what reaction they give” - he is. We all are. But I personally think he’s causing some damage now.

Another day another game, we got away with it on Friday. Wilder will not tolerate any more performances like that one. I think he is spelling it out that they are in the last chance saloon anyone showing lack of effort and desire will be gone in the summer.

“We’ve maxed out” - does he mean financially? If so, shipping the ‘can’t be arseders’ out for relative peanuts isn’t gonna boost any funds. Leonard is yet to impress me never mind convince me. 9 months chasing a man only for him to start off completely awfully isn’t good enough.

I fancied us for top 10 before the season began. Then I adjusted my expectations to top 6. I still have hopes of the top 6 because why not? But realistically we wouldn’t make it past the 1st leg of the semis.

His comments make out that it’s all over for the play offs and, if we continue to play (which we won’t) in the same vein, he is correct. To say they have to have self motivation is also correct. When he says that some players are not in the same page, perhaps he is trying to get it across to some of the newbies who might not see it the same as the others. I don’t see anything wrong with what he said or how he said it. I am just said that, after all the praise and support that CW has given these players since we hit our bad streak, that they have let him, and us, down. Well done CW, time for a reality check!

He was quite clear in what he said Friday the players let everyone down.
They now have to pick themselves up .he may be right a d we as a group arnt good enough.what does he do ! he is looking for a response ,as I said before mental strength.
Their response will determine there futures at the lane for he's no time for bottlers.
Being a big blade he may have gone over the top in the heat of the moment, but watching that mess I think most of us would have done the same.
A lot of good will come out of it as if he's right and were not good enough .then the building starts here and now and will decide who has got the bottle and yes nous to make another go of it next season.
As for his comments on ownership he will not be gagged and will make comments as it unfolds. We are lucky to have a blade at the helm right now as he wants the best for the club not for himself ,back him to the hilt ( remember that statement t when Northampton were in dire straights )more power to Wilder.

The only problem was he basically said they were all shit. (Which they were give or take) except leon and billy (who were also poor in my opinion) how will the others react to that.
i know how i'd react. any players who don't have the pride to react we don't need here.

I think one of the problems that any Manager has is following up an almighty dressing room bollocking with a press interview. The interview has got to somehow mirror what was said or otherwise it can lose it's effect. Having said that, for me he went a little too far.
the poor little dears. fuck that. they are wearing MY shirt.

I think Wilder is doing two things. Clough or Adkins didn't earn the right to say what he said as strongly as he said it. First thing he was doing was to empathise with the fans (he has the right to do this as he's one of us) secondly it was about as strong a warning as can be dished out that shit effort and lacklustre performance really piss him off. The players already here prior to January already knew this but have had a massive re-establishment of that and the new lads are under no illusion that it is not acceptable. I know he said he doesn't care but he cares deeply.

Some things are bothering me about the performance, why were so many players so shit? People are singling out Leonard but JOC hardly ever got up the pitch apart from set pieces, Bash was ineffective, Fleck's decision making was the worst I've seen from him this season, Evans seemed to think that all players were on the same team and passed to the nearest one, Baldock seemed to be trying impossible passes even though a simple pass inside was available Stevens was just very poor. So why were they all so bad? Why would the whole team play so poorly? Was it just the team selection? Considering JOC and Stevens, Bash and Baldock have played together for most games this season why were they not remotely in sync? It is very perplexing I don't know why it was so bad when they can string stuff together against Leicester and Leeds. They can't all be badly motivated at the same time, surely.
because it's football. it happens to even the best teams.. as long as it isn't every bloody week then you're fine ;)

Well I'm going to pick United in last man standing in my local on Saturday so there, well I'll maybe wait until after the match tomorrow and then show my undying loyalty, maybe, who's man City playing?

Ive heard Wilder spin those names out before, its a good shout, those three players obviously believed in their own ability and the manager saw it.

But Wilder might not see any of our current squad in the same light if they keep on turning out performances like the other nite, someone mentioned Coutts in his pre injury form he would be good in the Prem
but how long is it going to take to get him back upto speed considering how long it took him when he came here from Derby,it might not happen for him.

A game of perspective coming up in Hull shortly, they play Barnsley lets see how they get on i mean Barnsley are shit look like getting relegated.

For the past 18 months we've been posting on here about how great it is that we have a manager that says it as it is.

And then on Friday night he says it as it is and suddenly we have posters on here getting all uncomfortable with statements like he's gone OTT.

Let's see what happens between now and the end of the season and then make a judgement about the statements on Friday night.

In the meantime we should all grow a pair because nobody said this would be easy.

The vast majority of our players are at a club that is the best they’re going to get, and their only chance to ever play in the Prem.

Fleck, Coutts or Brooks aside, I can’t think of many that will go upwards if/when they leave us.

Consequently, I can’t see motivation being a problem and to be fair, every game I’ve seen they look bang up for it.

Storm. Teacup.

Wilders quite original on his comments doesn' t come out with any old drivel.his comments have got a reacton from the supporters would imagine playrs thinking same. If I was on verge of squad I would think maybe this could be my chance to shine if picked for the team. can see a few chanes in team tuesday and a improved performance
