Why the fuck can't we do the simplest of fucking things?
When you're under the cosh, put a fucking foot on it, don't just head it back to them, don't just belt it, don't just pass it fucking anywhere. Take a touch, hold it up and wait for an out ball.
Going forward, risky passes all night, trying to do intricate stuff in a square yard of space with two opposition players around you, missing easy headers from corners, pathetic marking at defensive corners.
For fuck's sake, please just pass the ball, move quickly into space demand the ball back and keep the fucking thing.
Well done Davies, Bindon, Riedewald and Brooks., but fuck me that was frustrating.

Literally the only thing I hear at BL when we are not in the ascendancy and we have possession in a defensive position is "get rid" or variants there of

Can someone please explain why the formation has changed recently ? Would appreciate it because seemed like we had a winning formula then we put fucking Tom cannon in the pitch? WHY?

Which is what you hear on a Sunday morning with 2 pub teams.
There is a time when it's right to just belt it up field or into the stand, but too many looked like really poor players tonight.
Lazy, careless, hopeful, clueless passes at times.

I might get flamed here for my simplistic approach but is the following too difficult?

1 - Our players go hard for up to 60 minutes, then start to flag
2 - We are able to score goals from a good number of positions in the pitch
3 - We need at least two goals to account for flagging in (1) and defensive fragility

So why not keep the pressure on for the first 15 of the second half? Last night if that happened we may have been 0-2 up, and still accounted for our weaknesses. You could even go ultra defensive after that and soak up some pressure.

It just seems like the basics to me, but instead we come out second half unable to string passes together and look all over the shop. The opposition make simple changes and the game is over.

Everyone can see it happening, same as in the PO final.

Mainly because Bamford is injured I think and none of the other forwards can play up front on their own, coupled with Hamer being banned.

I know we're not supposed to say it, but Campbell looked a lot better at the end of last season in a two alongside Moore, who for some of his failings was a pretty good target man and usually held the ball up well.

60 mins....

We went for it for about 20 mins yesterday... then we scored and it literally stopped for the rest of the game.
I think after 20mins, there manager twigged how to stop us! While wilder just sat there twiddling his fingers wondering what to do! Out done again chris by yet another manager... like last Saturdays temporary manager WBA!!

Isn't the answer really symple?

Bang average team. Bang average mgmt. No need to worry about becoming PNE , we're already here. 37 games in. 14th. GD of plus two.

We need, again, a big clearout and switch up in Summer and having got us clear of relegation worries, Chris deserves that I think. That said, if last two performances are going to continue and he can't get a tune out of them anymore...

Whatever happened at the end if his first term, plus the embarrassing results in the PL have very clearly changed him.

He's a million miles from what he was. Clemente showed him up last night. Spotted how to affect the game and had a team fit enough to roll us over and we all knew it was coming.

Chris couldn't react. It's patternable now and who he is.

100% ..no one can hold the ball up if Bamford isn’t playing .. Cannon plays well well he partners Bamford .
As for Campbell apart from scoring against the Oinks & worldy at QPR he offers nothing , doesn’t hold the ball up , make runs in behind or occupy the centre backs .
As for Ings well his legs have long since gone .
Next season I’d look at partnering One / Cannon with Bamford .
But Wilder will revert back to the 4231 and that meaning only room for one up top sadly

it annoys me we shafted One aside to make way for Ings.... he offers way more than the majority of our forwards, even if it's just the nuisance factor

Part of the issue is also the squad. We don’t have guys who can help finish the game or we choose not to use them.

For example, if you have left footed Riedewald that will play part of the game, where is left footed Soumaré as his alternative? It’s kind of unlucky Phillips isn’t there as he’s be in the mix. But given we fall away badly I don’t think having someone with energy is a bad thing for the last 25 or so. That isn’t 31 year old Rothwell. You either start with Soumaré and benefit from Riedewald’s experience to close out or or start with Riedewald and end with Soumaré’s energy.

I get that we needed an alternative to Seriki in the January window but we went for the wrong player. We should have got someone who is perhaps less ambitious going forward but defensively sound. That way you have the option to hold what you’ve got better. Hoever doesn’t add either way.

Not getting McBurnie or keeping Moore, even if we got Bamford leaves us exposed as we don’t have a nasty, niggly bastard to hold the ball at the end of the game. Unfortunately Cannon isn’t outstanding at anything. If money is tight, I’d much rather see Bamford, Oné, Marsh, O’Hare another target man and a quick guy as forward options, next year, than Cannon, Ings and latterly Campbell.

So for me we just don’t have the players to properly shut up shop and we don’t seem to have the drive to put games to bed. In all, not a great combo.

Because he works harder than Campbell?
That's a very, very, VERY low bar though. Put most of the fit, amateur footballers from the kop in his position and they'd work harder than Campbell too. Working hard and running around a lot without anything to show for it, is not what you should be paying your strikers to do. Give me someone like Keith Edwards in his heyday and Patrick Bamford now, who run around very little but instinctively know where to be and where the goal is, over Dill the Dog from The Herbs any day.

Billy made and still does makes a living from being in the right place right time, football instinct and knowledge gives you that extra few yards to put you in the mix. Same with Bamford and Edwards, for me Campbell is definitely in the not quite sure what he is striker box, is he a goal poacher, not really, a set-up play nope...
