..to choose from. We might still be an experienced striker short, but the line behind looks as exciting as any team that I can remember us putting out.

It's going to be difficult for Hecky to get 3 of Berge (assuming he stays) Khadra, Ndaye and McaTee into the same team, never mind all of them. But that gives us excellent strength and options from the bench.

Very happy with this window so far.

Creativity not goalscorers has always been the problem, so now watch us create 400 chances a game and have 1 shot on target.

It's probably too late now, unless they have been training for it, but going to a 4-3-3/4-3-2-1 seems to suit the players we have more and how we play, now. We do not overlap the centre backs any more and with the exception of Bogle, have poor attacking full/wing backs. Playing this way would allow us to play more actual attackers and also put another man in midfield, where we get overrun a lot. When fit we could go with;

----------------------Wes----------------------
Baldock/Bogle--Anel-----Egan-------RND------
----------Norwood-------Doyle---------------
-------------------McAtee-------------------
-------Berge--------------------Khadra--------
----------------Ndiaye/Brewster--------------

I think we could be a bit more fluid and adaptable in how we play, going with this sort of formation.

It is a risk. I just hope we can get a dozen or so from Sharp again, hopefully more from Brewster and then the AMs will all contribute.

All looks well but I am still as nervous as anything. If, IF Brewster steps up, and with Billy as an impact sub we will be fine.

It doesn't seem viable to me anymore to sacrifice an attacking player to continue with the back 3 / wing back system which has lost much of its effectiveness

Its a perfect chance to move away from the back 3 with the changing personnel there

LCB and LWB gives us 2 potential weak links. CB and LB in a 4 gives us just 1, or maybe 0 weak links

4 3 3 would accommodate our best attacking talent. So for now we should go with it. Its the time of the season to try new things, if you're going to

Bogle coming back might change things though, because he's a massive factor at RWB but it also depends just how well he comes back

Yet Sharp is still the only reliable goal scorer nothing to suggest the others are we need another striker.

Recruitment smells a LOT like Hecky building a team around feeding our one true out and out talent. Mr B Sharp (Brewster as understudy).

It's almost as if, given a clean slate, the Management team has said, we've got the best 6 yard box player the Championship has ever seen. Let's figure out how to provide him with as many chances as possible. And here we are.

I honestly think with the addition of Anel and some of what we saw preseason, we may be gearing up to change to a back 4.

Especially with the way our wingbacks have turned Into chicken wings recently.

I hope so

With Clark and Anel signing half our CB personnel has changed. I'm sure both have played in back 4s plenty as well

To have these options for 2 CB positions would leave us very strong...

Bash/Egan - Anel/Clark
(So much experience btw)

Very ideal.....and with all the options further forward it surely pushes us towards a formation change

IF we go to a back four (big IF imho) we need a proper CDM to protect the defence. Otherwise we’ll concede far too many … (I’m not even sure how we defend corners) … unless we’re confident we can always out score everyone.

Going to a back 4 with all that creative talent in front would require defensively reliable FBs. Baldock and Robinson are our best bets

A good DM would be nice but not crucial imo. That would also sacrifice one of those who should be starting

We’ve got the best defence & attacking midfielder options in the division. Just need to make sure we make it count on the pitch now

Basham shouldnt be anywhere near CB in a back four Egan also has issues

Yet you know we will still start fleck, Norwood, Osborn next game

RND also a defensively solid fullback who did well at LB for Stoke

It’s hard to argue that RND Egan Anel Baldock isn’t our best current defensive line up. Is back four would also allow for the option of wide midfielders- ie some of our several attacking midfielders being able to isolate an opposition player out wide and create. I’m all for it.

I don't know, after that Watford performance, we looked hopeless attacking it was embarrassing, I hope these Man city teenagers can spark the team.

I'm more concerned about getting attacking corners. We routinely concede from those.
